But he’s a democrat so it’s OK.

Democratic Senator Max Baucus nominated his girlfriend to be US Attorney in Montana while they were dating.
Roll Call reported:

Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus’ office confirmed late Friday night that the Montana Democrat was carrying on an affair with his state office director, Melodee Hanes, when he nominated her to be U.S. attorney in Montana.

According to a source familiar with their relationship, Hanes and Baucus began their relationship in the summer of 2008 – nearly a year before Baucus and his wife, Wanda, divorced in April 2009. The Senator had informally separated from his wife in March 2008 and they were living apart when he began dating Hanes, according to Baucus’ office.

Hanes ended her employment with Baucus in the spring of this year.

  1. Today’s Democrats just continue to rub their power-drunk arrogance in our faces… had enough yet?

And just imagine what the Left would have been saying had Mark Sanford proceeded to go and get his lil’ mamasita a government job… their hypocrisy surely knows no bounds-

  2. so this is the Max Health Care Reform bill? You can just ascertain from his scrupulous ethical treatment of his marriage how ethical he is about the Public.

  3. Bacus recommended Haines on the basis of a strong personal intimate relationship. Curiously enough, he withdrew his recommendation on the basis of a strong personal intimate relationship.

I wish that I had said that, but it was actually said by Haines ex-husband.

  4. Screwing around has its advantages.

  5. Jim McGreevey Seal of Approval™

  6. Sexual Cronyism?

  7. No man would pay (her off) to do her.

  8. I guess this can incorporated into those ethics and behavioral textbooks as the “Letterman principle “.
The tendency to have sexual relationships with co workers because it leads to better pay and quick advancement.
No need for working and slaving unnoticed and unappreciated , just have sex and watch your prospects improve.
In fact ,there were words for this relationship some time ago, whoremonger and whore.

  9. I read the AP story about this. In paragraph 3 they mention Baucus is a (D)…by paragraph 4 they are linking this to Sanford’s (SC), affair. That’s right, apparently Baucus “indescretions” are part of a bigger pattern of bi-partisan misbehavior. They can’t critisize one Dem. misdeed w/out mentioning at LEAST one Rep. It’s a tit-for-tat world in mainstream media. It’s also THE MOST COWARDLY AND LAZY way to spin a story.

  10. Boys will be boys.

  11. EU-style politics I see.

  12. Saw a headline on Drudge saying her nomination was “awarded solely on the base of merit.” They left off the part about being able to suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.

  13. Mr. Hoft. You should reserve the headline term ‘shocker’ for those occasions that are truly unexpected. Democrat malfeasance and corruption has become so common that such discoveries ceased to be shocking long ago.

  14. Guess that’s why jockeys was my favorite brand, not Hanes.

  15. Hanes ended her employment with Baucus in the spring of this year.

    Which employment?

  16. What about Ted Kennedy and Chris Dodd and their waitress sandwiches – bury it. What about the tubesteak eater Barney Frank forcing banks to make bad loans – bury it. What about Al Gore using more energy than 20 average homes? – bury it. Journalists are as low, biased, and shameful as climate scientists.
