Ouch!… Rep. Parker Griffith rips on radical democrats and Pelosicare as he flips to the GOP.
“I want to make it perfectly clear that this bill is bad for our doctors. It’s bad for our patients. It’s bad for the young men and women who are considering going into the health care fields. As a doctor and as a Republican, I plan to once again oppose this measure and hope to defeat this bill.“

FOX News reported:
Rep. Parker Griffith, a freshman Democrat from Alabama, announced Tuesday that he’s switching parties to become a Republican.
“I have become increasingly concerned that the bills and policies pushed by the current Democratic leadership are not good for north Alabama or our nation,” Griffith said during a press conference Tuesday.
“I am announcing today that I’m joining the Republican conference immediately,” he said. “Our nation is at a crossroads and I can no longer align myself with a party that continues to pursue legislation that is bad for our country, hurts our economy, and drives us further and further into debt.”
Griffith, a retired oncologist and businessman, succeeded former Democratic Rep. Bud Cramer, who retired earlier this year, in a hard-fought contest for the northern Alabama seat.
Republicans thought that district would be hard for Democrats to hold without Cramer on the ballot, but Griffith defeated Republican Wayne Parker by 4 points — 52-48 percent — even though Republican presidential nominee John McCain won every county in the district.
Welcome home, son.

Good! Now multiply x10 and take a bunch of (D) seats in 2010!

That evens out the Specter turncoat move… I’m glad to see him go… all the way if I have anything to say about it in 2010!
Wonder how many others are going to jump ship. Nothing like having one start it off…

Another win for conservatism as I see it.
There are probably a LOT of state and local Democrat Party groups that are going to have a tough time getting anything but liberals to run for Federal Congressional seats.
Why would a conservative Democrat want to got to Washington to be beaten up by Reid and Pelosi? The D brand is becoming a Scarlet Letter
I live in a county in Missouri that is dominated by Democrats, used to bother me until I realized they were all conservatives. Pro-life, Pro-gun, fiscally responsible, God fearing, Conservative Democrats.
All this being said keep up the pressure! Make it miserable from the constituents to be a liberal.
Talk to your neighbors and reason with them if they vote Democrat that probably just like Rep. Parker Griffith they have no home with the Democrat Party, at least not these jokers!

From the Club for Growth:
“Griffith’s voting record is far from conservative, too. Granted, he voted against the Big 4 – Obama’s first budget, the Stimulus, Cap and Trade, and ObamaCare. However, his vote on the budget is slightly deceptive since he originally voted for 9 of the 12 spending bills that make up the budget. And he voted against all the Stimulus amendments that would reduce its size.
But just a quick perusal of 2009 shows that he voted YES on the 2009 pork-filled Omnibus; YES on Cash for Clunkers, NO on waiving the harmful Davis-Bacon provision, and had a pathetic 0% score on the 2009 RePORK Card.”
In other words, a new RINO was born today.

Y’all better perform a careful inspection of what you’re getting here. I know it’s fun to poke at the Dems, and thump our chests, but we don’t need any more RINOs.
P. Aaron commented:
A welcome smidge of sanity. If only we had more winning elections, fewer defections, and better defenders of our Constitution.

he’s a RINO: voted for SCHIP, etc…. see the letter Michelle got from a local resident in his district.
Patriotic commented:
When you hear this Congressman talk about his switch to the Republican Party, it’s interesting. It makes me remember something that Michele Bachmann had said a little while back ago.
Representative Griffith tells how he tried to be a “Blue Dog” (Fiscally Conservative Democrat) with his votes over the last year. He tried to pull the radically liberal Democrat Party back to the center, while they ignored two-thirds of the America people, by ramming this Obamacare down the throats of the American people, to their own detriment.
I remember Michele Bachmann revealing an interesting story recently….she said that when President Obama met with House Members a while back ago in a closed-door meeting in the Capitol basement, that Obama said off-the-record that “..he didn’t care if he was a one-term President…that he was willing to sacrifice being elected to a second term, just to get his agenda through…(paraphrased).
Either these insane Democrats really are this ideologically brainwashed by the progressives, and are willing to walk-the-plank for their agenda, or somebody is seriously threatening some of them to “pass this legislation or else”.
Part of the problem is when we have Republican Congressmen and Congresswomen saying that they are “friends” with the members across the aisle, just to appear parliamentary…the same “Democrat friends” who are committing treason against the American people they represent, just to ram their agenda down our throats.
We need fresh new blood our Government that are NOT friends with the Democrats, but are patriots that truly defend the Constitution, and are friends with the American people.

I would have liked to hear him expose – and blast – the chicanery of the Dems too. (Video of DeMint on other GP post.)
His voice denouncing them would have carried alot of weight.
He’s got to prove to me that he wants to turn around the corruption so rampant in his (former) party.
There are things worse than bad legislation. And they must come to an end if we’re to survive as a nation.

money CORRUPTS like no other force on this planet..
what we need is more or less money free elections..
politicians campaigns should involve an equal amount allotted in
accordance with the position they’re running for, lots of leg work,
and meritorious deeds, not “just words”..
i cannot begin to imagine the number of people who would not be hungry, who would have a roof over their heads, and medical needs attended to wiht the unimaginable amount of money spent on political campaigs across this nation..
when the same people who’ve proved time & again they’re not out for “we the people” but what’s in it for them keep getting elected, not to mention things just keep getting worse regardless, you’ve got to know in your hearts something with the whole system is inherently wrong, just wrong.. it wasn’t meant to be this way.. our children are not the only ones who need to be taught the Constitution, Bill of Rights, etc.. which have all but been lost to US.. but evidently those we elect do as well..

I don’t care if he is a Rino. We can’t get rid of them until elections anyway. I would like to see 20 or 30 more Dems jump ship right now saying exactly what he’s saying. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?

It just goes to show just how bad it is in the democrat party for even democrats to want to wash the strench of the democrats off themselves.
Franklin commented:
bg, I totally agree about campagin finance!
I also think that we should change the length of the terms – 2 years for every elected official. Half one year, the rest in the next year.
No one can ‘stump’ for anyone else (i.e. the president can’t go to rallys for any other elected official).
The person running for office must submit a position statement (no promises) and if they do not follow it after being elected, can face impeachment.
No more campagin speeches (the position statement will be sufficient). They will be allowed to participate in two debates, two and one month(s) prior to election.
Even if the term lenghts don’t change, the rest of these ideas should be implimented. I’m sick of politicians spending the last half of their term running for re-election.

He bailed on that stench of a party and can no longer relate to them or with what they are trying to do to this country. He is fearful and jumped ship knowing this current DNC is more like totalitarianism. So what? He had a change of heart. The scales feel from his eyes. At least this shifts some power. I hope more join him. The more the merrier.
Whatever it takes to stop this total takeover by government.
