The Rats Are Jumping Ship—

The US unemployment spiked from 7.6% to 10.2% this year under Obama… the highest rate in 26 years.

Chart from the Bureau of Labor Statistics- via Sweetness and Light
Obama promised his stimulus plan would create 3.7 million new jobs.
Instead America has lost 3.6 million jobs.

Democratic Reps are threatening a jobs March on Washington to protest their own failed economic policies.
CNN reported:

Members of President Obama’s own political party are charging that the White House and the Democratic Congressional leadership are not doing enough to help the unemployed and are threatening to organize a march on Washington of jobless Americans.

“Obviously there’s something that’s not getting through to them,” said Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Illinois. “And we’re going to let the White House and everybody who’s concerned know that we have got people in our districts who are depending on us to deliver for them.”

Rush and Reps. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, and Candice Miller, R-Michigan, chair the new Congressional “Jobs Now Caucus,” which is comprised of 112 Democrats and 17 Republicans.

Rush and Kaptur argue that a new jobs program is more important than health care reform, but stop short of threatening to hold up a vote on one of Obama’s most important domestic policy initiatives.

“We’re not there yet,” Kaptur said.

Some of the proposals being floated by the caucus include: redirecting existing stimulus and TARP money to jobs programs and pressing for a new jobs bill, which they’re careful not to call a “stimulus.”

The problem with Marcy Kaptur is that there is no “there” there.

    And there never has been.

oh it’s much higher than that, stats don’t
include out of work welfare recipients..

  8. Democratic Reps are threatening a jobs March on Washington to protest their own failed economic policies.

I wonder if it’s going to look as funny as it sounds…?

  9. How many million will it be – as reported on the MSM? The MSM has a real quandary here. Do they inflate a few thousand people (in purple tee shirts and pre-printed signs) into millions or do they stand as the gatekeepers for B.H.O? Does the MSM report any such protest at all?

Maybe they can use the 9/12 march b-roll footage to bolster the claims of millions of protesters.

    This is delicious.

    …Lee

  10. Maybe the fake President can have a stimulus bill passed. That would help.
    Right?

  11. Wonder what Bush is doing? What do you guys think?

  12. How much money did Regan spend when the inflation rate and interest rates were higher than the unemployment 26 years ago–you know that time period which ‘wasn’t as bad’ as things are now?

  13. Conservatives need to stay away from this nonsense.

Jobs are created by an unburdened private sector via capital investments.

We know what works. We’ve seen what doesn’t.
    ……………………..

  14. They believed Pelosi and Reid who said that the stimulus would create jobs.

  15. “We know what works. We’ve seen what doesn’t.”

Indeed, though this isn’t news, well maybe for the NYT:

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of its miseries”–Winston Churchill

  16. How did Obama manage to ruin the booming economy he inherited from Bush in such a short space of time? And what did he do with the budget surplus Bush left him as well? And why is he re-invading Afghanistan after Bush won the war there already? What’s going on?!

The crash in the 80′s was very bad. Those of us who lived thru it and were trying to raise a family were hit very hard. Investments where paying double digit interest, but normal living was out of control. I just see red when Obama doesn’t even mention it, all he talks about is the Great Depression, like we haven’t had other ones. These occur approx every 20 yrs or so.

I have a friend who is almost 80 and she explained to me a few years back that these crashes and depressions are actually normal corrections. Nothing (stock market, housing prices, etc) can just go up, up, up, or down, down, down without correcting itself at some point.

  18. This is too funny. These idiots are protesting their own votes in congress. There is no sense in blaming the WH and the leaders in congress. It was their vote that passed the stimulus, cap and tax and the healthcare bill in the house and they were very gung ho about it too. The problem is that they have finally looked at writing on the wall. The 2010 elections are coming fast and furiuous and their idol is tanking. They were just a little too snarky to their constituents during the townhall meetings and Obama can’t save them as they thought. He is no longer omnipotent. An empty shell as we tried to tell everybody but they didn’t listen. Everyone has become disenchanted with him and thus with them. Their arrogance has led them to this pass and no one deserves it more. The republicans should stay away from this farce and let them sink all by themselves.

  19. Of course they are jumping ship, they heard Hopeychangey tell them the truth and they don’t want to hear it.

“We did not ask for this fight. On Sept. 11, 2001, 19 men hijacked four airplanes and used them to murder nearly 3,000 people. They struck at our military and economic nerve centers. They took the lives of innocent men, women and children without regard to their faith or race or station. Were it not for the heroic actions of the passengers on board one of those flights, they could have also struck at one of the great symbols of our democracy in Washington and killed many more.”

“I make this decision because I am convinced that our security is at stake in Afghanistan and Pakistan. This is the epicenter of the violent extremism practiced by al-Qaida. It is from here that we were attacked on 9/11, and it is from here that new attacks are being plotted as I speak. This is no idle danger, no hypothetical threat. In the last few months alone, we have apprehended extremists within our borders who were sent here from the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan to commit new acts of terror. This danger will only grow if the region slides backwards and al-Qaida can operate with impunity. We must keep the pressure on al-Qaida, and to do that, we must increase the stability and capacity of our partners in the region.”

Most of them are foaming at the mouth because Obama said the same thing Bush had been telling us since 9/11. I wonder if it has occurred to them that we have been told this because it is the truth. Maybe Jack Nicholson was right when he said “YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!”

  20. Next they’re coming for your fillings. Oh I forgot, no fillings because of Fluoride. But Fluoride is a Commie plot too. So much to worry about, so much to keep our heads from exploding.

Wonder what Bush is doing? What do you guys think?

If I were him, I’d be licking elephant balls for a nickel a herd to get my self respect back and the bad taste of politics out of my mouth!

    You asked!

  22. An idea:

We all show up…… everybody who was at the big one and many others…..

Only one sign is allowed though and everybody has one:

“See, We Told You So !”

    ;-)

    Cheers !

    That’s good, but how about

“How’s this HOPE and CHANGE working for you?”

  24. so, what i’m getting from this is that, without the stimulus, Ear Leader would have presided over the loss of 7.3 million j*bs…. (3.7+3.6).

i don’t care what anyone says: that right there is some serious leadershit.

we are in the *very* best of hands…..

    (or is that “hand-basket”? %-)

  25. Obama is leading us all to ruin. Record bank failures, record deficits, record unemployment, record businesses closing, record losses in Afghanistan, record government spending, White House busted for making up Congressional Districts to bolster their record failure of a stimulus bill.
Meanwhile, King Obama and Queen MEchelle party and golf weekly while the rest of us are broke, unemployed, or on the battlefield.

  26. Dems protest their own policies.

Tiger Woods SUV whacked with 9 iron.

Al Gore’s AGW revealed as hoax by internet.

    Oh, the irony.

  27. Wonder if Zero will be at a fundraiser in MN when this march occurs. Large crowds seem to scare him.

  28. Will Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and Michelle Obama be included in this anger March against the Bozonomic agenda? Maybe Katie ‘crooked’ Couric and Matt Lobotomy are going to march too! ;)

  29. So, is ACORN paying the fares to DC for the out-of-work protestors? Or, is that another taxpayer-funded deal?
    .

  30. the unemployment graph looks like graph the global warming criers wished they had.

  31. If I were him, I’d be licking elephant balls for a nickel a herd to get my self respect back and the bad taste of politics out of my mouth!

    You asked!

Yes, I did. And I’m very pleased with your response, Midwestengr!!

  32. The Left doesn’t “DO” skills, they “organize.”

And here we find out that they need to create an outrage to “organize for.”
They want unemployed to march to demand more unemployment benefits. What’s this foreign language thingy of “jobs?” “Organizers” don’t “work.”
    Silly, reality-based people!

  33. The stats also don’t include out-of-business entrepreneurs like those from the shuttered storefronts in my So Cal town.

  34. Bush is laughing his ass off right now and letting history and the truth fall where they may. He was/is very comfortable with himself, unlike the clown we have in there now and I personally hope he is getting some much needed rest and caring for his classy family

    ……..
    We don’t KNOW!!!
    SO NUANCED!
    WHO can fathom it?
It’s something ONLY a POTUS with NO executive experience WHATSOEVER, coupled with abysmal GEOPOLITICAL IGNORANCE and UNSEEMLY attraction to America’s enemies, lubricated by a quivering glob of hometown political paybacks to conclude.

But it could be blamed on someone else – for a couple more months at least, seeing who dumb AMericans are.

  36. That unemployment chart looks more like the “hokey stick” AGW chart that Mann fabricated than the “real” one.

  37. Before they start illegally redirecting money that has been allocated by law for specific expenditures under the “TARP” legislation, they had all better lawyer up…and buy some tar and feathers insurance.

  38. Speaking of signs, here’s a winner:

Recession: when your neighbor loses his job.

Depression: when you lose your job.

Recovery: when OBAMA loses HIS job.

  39. Sounds like some Dems just figured out that they will be blamed for the 10.2% unemployment. Therefore, they will march against their own President to show they aren’t joined at the hip to his policies. Weren’t these the same ones who voted for a Healthcare bill we couldn’t afford? Didn’t they also fight for a Stimulus Package which created no jobs? TOO LATE DEMS–see you on the food stamp line. Now that there’s no stigma attached to receiving food stamps you can accept yours with pride,
