Harry Reid Cancels New Orleans Fundraiser With Mary Landrieu

The fundraiser for Harry Reid in New Orleans this weekend has been cancelled. Reid and Landrieu say they will be in Washington working on ramming through Obamacare. Harry Reid gifted Landrieu with $300 million after her vote to open debate on Obamacare. It was announced around the same time that she would hold a fundraiser for Harry Reid in December.
NOLA.com reported:
A New Orleans fundraiser scheduled Saturday for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has been canceled as the Senate expects to stay in session over the weekend to continue consideration on the health care overhaul bill.
Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., and political strategist James Carville were to host a brunch for Reid at the St. Charles Avenue home of businessman David Voelker.
The entry level contribution was $4,800. Landrieu’s office said she would not be in Louisiana this weekend because she will be working on the health care legislation, which is likely to be shaped by floor votes

Three Blue Dog Dems have thus far decided not to seek re-election next year. They are Congressmen John Tanner, Brian Baird and Dennis Moore. I wonder if its more than a tough re-election that has them spooked. Tanner and Baird voted no on Healthcare so perhaps the Dem Party controlled by Obama is not going to give them proper funding. Dennis Moore’s seat in Kansas is interesting because its the only seat in Kansas currently held by a Dem.

Its almost comical that yesterday Reid told McConnell that he would not be working this weekend because he had a fundraiser to do for Mary Landrieu. Now all of a sudden he has to stay in Washington to work on Healthcare. Obama must have heard The Dems were not going to work this weekend and had a fit.

Mary Landrieu by all accounts accepted the promise of $300M in public tax-payer money through, largely, the efforts of Harry Reid to insert specific language into a Senate bill in exchange for her vote on another issue. Now Harry needs a taste. You see, once a payment is made, regardless of where the actual monies may or may not have come from, then it’s time for the kickback. Boom. Gangster 101. Hence it’s time for a “fund raiser” for Harry, thrown by Mary so as not to seem pompus, so she can hand back some of those funds (plus whatever he happens to collect on the plate charge).

Do I understand correctly that the $300,000 million for Mary Landrieu came out of stimulus money?
Senator Gregg claims that they can’t use TARP money to spend on more “shovel ready” and “green” jobs, because he wrote the bill.
And what is a “green job” anyway? We have plenty of businesses here that supply and/or install all kinds of insulation and weatherproofing. China got the contract for building turbines, and installing them takes skilled people usually provided by the manufacturer. But I digress…
