Lib Reporter Connolly: White House Gave Sen. Dodd Sweetheart Deal To Help Him Win Re-Election

Liberal reporter Ceci Connolly admitted to Greta Van Susteren tonight that the Senator Dodd received a $100 million sweetheart deal from the White House in the Obamacare bill to help him with his re-election.

It’s nice to know that our taxpayer dollars are helping to support this corruptocrat’s reelection, huh?

Republicans. Republicans need to lose no Senate
Seats in 2010, and beat 20 Dems (gain 20 Senate seats)
to have the 60 cloture-vote margin (filibuster-proof) to pass
legislation, and to boot out Mitch McConnell as the worthless Republican Leader,
and vote in Conservative Republican Jim DeMint, as the new Republican Leader of the Senate. There are only 19 Democrats
up for reelection in 2010 to beat, so the
other 1 added Senate seat will have to be
done in 2012, if Joe Lieberman, the
Independent moderate, does not caucus (vote)
with them on enough legislation.
If the Republicans pick up all 19 Democrats Senate seats, and lose no Republican Senate Seats in 2010, they will have the Independent Senator Joe Lieberman, who caucuses (votes) with them some of the time, to give them the 60 Senate votes the Republicans need to pass some legislation in 2010.

Even with a Republican sweep in 2010, it will most likely take the 2012 Congressional elections, along with a conservative Republican President, to give Congress the ability to pass legislation, that begins fixing the damage that has been done to America. (Repeal Obamacare, Cap and Trade, etc) This is due to the fact that it takes a 2/3 majority vote in each Chamber, to override President Obama’s veto power. This would be 290 votes in the House, which is unlikely, and 60 votes in the Senate. A Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, or Tim Pawlenty as President in 2012 would be a continuation of restoring sanity to America.

I wrote a post about Crowder’s Detroit video on my website. Included was the following quote which I think applies here. I believe the people in charge, our “leaders” if you will, realized the party is about over. They cannot continue to promise and fund sweetheart deals to get voters. It was a warning by our founding fathers, it is a economic reality. What they are left with are two things; stealing everything they can get their hands on and trying to get out before the house of cards collapses.

“So, why do the so-called leaders in Detroit and D.C. think they can do better? They don’t. I think they get the fact they aren’t going to make a difference, but the ones in charge have the cash and the power and they aren’t going to let it go by saying, “oops.” The goal has shifted from any remaining idealist concept of making a better city to just getting as much cash as you can and then getting out. When I grew up in Connecticut, the thing to be was a Republican. So I was a Republican even though my father was a Democrat. Then there was a tsunami of new residents from other states and pretty soon the indigenous, really conservative Connecticut Yankees are extinct and you have a state full of idiotic Democrats. They’re an embarrassment. Dodd, Liebermann it doesn’t matter. Get a sub in Groton, sail ‘em out into the Atlantic and dive dive dive. Don’t resurface. Ever.

I posted that Senate Republicans need to gain 20 seats in the U.S. Senate in order to have the 60 votes needed to overcome filibusters from the Democrats.

It normally only requires 51 votes for the Senate to pass legislation, but with the polarized climate in our political system, the opposition may stall votes with a tactic called “filibustering”. To overcome a filibuster, you have to invoke a “cloture vote” to end debate and proceed to a vote. A cloture vote to overcome a filibuster requires a super-majority of 60 votes.

So with the Senate Republicans only numbering 20 right now, they need a net gain of 20 seats, to reach 60. They will most likely make up most of these seats in the 2010 elections, and hopefully make up the rest in the 2012 elections.

I post this 2010 election update from time to time to inform the readers, and to help Conservatives with grassroots efforts.

I will change my update to clarify that it only will require 51 Republican Senators to be able to vote for a Republican as the Majority Leader of the Senate, which is an 11 seat net gain. Republicans will also be considered to have “taken the Senate”.

Republicans will still need a net gain of 20 Senators to overcome filibusters though.
