Senator John McCain came to the defense of Joe Lieberman on the Senate floor after far left Minnesota Senator Al Franken cut him off on the Senate floor.
McCain says he never had seen that happen in his 20 years in the senate:
Good for John McCain.
Michelle Malkin has more on Franken’s snit fit.

What the hell is wrong with the people of Minnesota….?
How the hell could you vote for such an obvious ass clown….? Aren’t you embarrassed yet…?
Al Franken makes Senator Kerry look reasonable.
You people voted for this guy.
We blame you.
Militant Conservative commented:
HMMMM, a far left loon attacks a moderate Democrat and a moderate Repub comes to his defense?
People please can we get some people with honor and values that America comes first. This leaves them ALL out in the cold.
AuntieMadder commented:
Heck, they spent over two minutes of the five minutes Leiberman discussing and negotiating it. No wonder they don’t have time to read the bills.
Depending on what day this was recorded, Leiberman could have been speaking in support of or against the bill. If in the clip, he was speaking in support of the health care bill, then my respect for McCain just grew that much more. It’s one thing (and expected) for a Republican senator to defend and ask for more time for another senator who’s saying what he’d say anyway. It takes a whole ‘nother class of politician (and a bigger person) to defend and ask for more time for a senator who he’s not in agreement with, especially when he’s from the House minority and the senator speaking is an Independent who’s planning to vote with the majority. There’s nothing in it for him in that case and he’s just showing class and civility.
Whether or not McCain jumped in because Leiberman was on his side of the vote, it’s still apparent that Franken has let his newly stolen …uh, I mean newly acquired status and power go to his head. One would think that Senate newbies would defer more to their elders.

Yeah, that’s it Stewy, go ahead and mess with a 4 term senator when you’ve been there a matter of weeks. Do you think he’s survived this long with out knowing a few tricks? I bet you will find out the answer to that when he takes this and shoves it right back up your arse when you least expect it.
mpw280 commented:
I am sure a lot of dead people voted for stewey, thats what acorn is for. Trained in chicago where the dead voting is a normal occurrence and is only found when a republican is the dead guy voting. mpw

What a man of decorum… kind of reminds me of this video

He RUNS through the chamber, people.
This Franken guy has poor social skills, guess the Stuart character wasn’t far off the mark.
Franklin commented:
Sigh, Franken does not represent Minnesota. He lives in his own world.
I did not vote for him, nor did the majority of Minnesotans. We were ‘acorned’.
Engineer of Record commented:
What the hell is wrong with the people of Minnesota? Jesse “The Body” Ventura as governor and now this no talent clown as senator. What’s next? Pee Wee Herman for president!!
Annie commented:
Minnesota, I have said since that election was bamboozled by the Franken/DNC/Acorn wrecking crew…you let it happen, you were asleep at the switch, you should be ashamed of yourselves, this reflects very poorly on the people of your state to have this clown representing Minnesota…vow to never, ever let it happen again.
chili palmer commented:
George Soros is most responsible for Franken being there. Going back to arranging appointment of the Minn. Sec. of State, Soros in addition to backing democrats was especially keen to punish Coleman. Coleman didn’t help himself by being a wimp.
Scott Jerome commented:
Help! I live in Minneapolis and the liberals are driving me insane!
Please send me money so I can afford to move to Wasilla, Alaska!
befuddled commented:
no screw minnesota, they don’t get off that easily. they rightfully should be castigated for being brain dead morons. first keith ellison than the ultimate embarrassment, franken. this is not a statistical anomaly. been in one town in minnesota. at night, it was like dawn of dead. on every corner was a bar and that was the only thing opened at night. wise up minnesotans, you people are rightfully circling the drain.
Jamest155 commented:
Lets face it, for all the objections he’s had, joe leiberman has consistently voted yes for this health care BS. They are only debating it because he voted yes for debate. Now, when push comes to shove, he is gonna vote yes again for this bill that requires everyone to get health insurance or pay the obama tax or go to jail. With friends like him, who needs enemies.
Chris Vehr commented:
How can anyone be surprised to find out that Al Franken is a jerk? He has an extremely high opinion of himself and he’s an angry left winger. He is better than you. Just ask him.
drjohn commented:
Comity is not pretty, I guess.
Al Franken is an a**hole. Absolute a**hole.
Franken knows nothing from gentility.
Listen up commented:
This apparently is what Minnesota has to offer. I think they have brain freeze when they vote. Anyway Franken is a freekin clown and an arrogant fool. He thinks he is special and cool, too ignorant to realize he is not funny just looks funny. Lord help us if this lying, cheating, stealing jerk is given anymore power than what he has already stolen.
Listen up commented:
Send hollywood to washington, get slug.
neomom commented:
I thought the guy with the gavel was supposed to be bi-partisan. It’s those small, disrespectful acts that eventually evolve into the Korean style fist fights on the floor of Congress. It’s a sad day for our government. We lose civility, we lose everything.
Sojourner commented:
Freaky Franken running the chamber.. now THAT DISTURBS comity …amazing how from a little ACORN a mighty clown grows! McCain standing up for procedures of civility? Priceless..especially considering that reports indicate Reid showed up an hour late to the floor to adjorn after Franken uses time as a foil to common courtesy.. what a dimwit he is!
Pat the First commented:
I hope the GOP has learned a lesson. They were gracious and accommodating throughout the time they held Congress. I hope they learned that the other side of the aisle is not as mature. Next time when the GOP has control and one of the clowns from the other side of the aisle tries to do something stupid, I hope the GOP knocks the Congress man or woman down to the earth . . . and very, very hard.
Flavia commented:
Al Franken is a little boy that needs his ass beat till it’s red and blue. He needs to remember his place among his elders.
Sojourner commented:
I agree, Pat the First.. the GOP needs to regrow a spine and speak up, stand up or shut up and get voted out along with their progressive liberal elite counterparts. We need to watch carefully.. will the GOP make good their words in deeds?
Bobbi commented:
what the heck is a junior senator, ex-comedian doing as the chair in the first place?
