Eeeeeerooraaahhh!

Finally, we have a reason to rally with Howard Dean.
Former DNC Chairman Howard Dean told democrats today to kill the health care bill in a prerecorded interview set to be aired later today.
The Plum Line reported, via Free Republic:

In a blow to the bill grinding through the Senate, Howard Dean bluntly called for the bill to be killed in a pre-recorded interview set to air later this afternoon, denouncing it as “the collapse of health care reform in the United States Senate,” the reporter who conducted the interview tells me.

Dean said the removal of the Medicare buy-in made the bill not worth supporting, and urged Dem leaders to start over with the process of reconciliation in the interview, which is set to air at 5:50 PM today on Vermont Public Radio, political reporter Bob Kinzel confirms to me.

The gauntlet from Dean — whose voice on health care is well respsected among liberals — will energize those on the left who are mobilizing against the bill, and make it tougher for liberals to embrace the emerging proposal. In an excerpt Kinzel gave me, Dean says:

“This is essentially the collapse of health care reform in the United States Senate. Honestly the best thing to do right now is kill the Senate bill, go back to the House, start the reconciliation process, where you only need 51 votes and it would be a much simpler bill.”

Kinzel added that Dean essentially said that if Democratic leaders cave into Joe Lieberman right now they’ll be left with a bill that’s not worth supporting.

oh wow, between Dean making a u-turn & the Dems championing the doom
of Social Security & Medicare as an excuse to shove yet another failed bill down our throats
, i don’t know which is more ironic..

  2. Do I hear a jerry-rigged Rube Goldberg contraption grinding to a screeching halt?

    LOL

  3. He must think Americans are suckers. Of course he does. He is a Democrat. Notice how he calls out to kill the bill as if he is on the side of the majority of people in country.
He is lying through his teeth.
He supports every single part of that bill as it sits now and he is just trying to fool the masses. He loves single payer.

He says “This is essentially the collapse of health care reform in the United States Senate. Honestly the best thing to do right now is kill the Senate bill, go back to the House, start the reconciliation process, where you only need 51 votes and it would be a much simpler bill.”

    Nice try Howard.
All that means is that this Congress drops it and lets thing cool down a little. Then in the next session of Congress they come right back with the same thing but only this time they uses reconciliation for a quick vote no one can stop that also gives nine vulnerable Senators cover as it allows them to vote no and say it wasn’t their fault.

    It’s a cheap trick.
You can always tell how much someone respects you by the quality of the lie they tell you.
    How good is Howard’s lie?

  4. I read that Sen. Nelson also said he would vote no on the bill.

  5. The height of cynicism would be to pass a “blank piece of paper” that they would have Obama fill in before signing.

Even then, Obama would “screw the pooch.”

  6. I don’t believe a single Democrat (or Independent). I believe they will all vote for the bill. (Did the meeting with Obummer result in these lies, to throw people off the battle?)
    .

  7. Dean may be concerned with all the congressional seats that the dems will lose if the healthcare is passed. Got news for you, Dean, the dems are going to lose them anyway.

  8. That’s Burris letting the wiseguys know his vote is gonna cost them…

  9. Hate to say this but after reading the lib post’s elsewhere, and all this it is dead BS, leaves me with the impression we are being misdirected with smoke and mirrors. My feeling is, we are being set up for a grand slam. Would not be surprised if when we wake in the morning this bill will have passed.

    Rock @ 6:42 pm #12

oh i’m with you, been saying they will pass it from the get go.. especially
since they stealthily passed part 1 (including death panel) HC legislation
way back in the February Stimulus Package.. ergo, they cannot afford not
to, while we the ants to their grasshopper cannot afford them to.. *sigh*

  11. Bonfire of the Vanities.

This health care bill is the paper to start the fire.

  12. Democrats flailing away along with Republicans pointing out the higher taxes, Medicare cuts, and higher insurance premiums are the stars in this video from Senate Republicans:

  13. Will someone please kill this comprehensive piece of %#@!. The mandate that everyone is required to buy health insurance or pay the obama tax under threat of going to jail, is enough to make this bill stink like yesterdays diapers.

  14. Don’t trust Dean, don’t trust Collins, don’t trust Snowe, don’t trust Burris, don’t trust Nelson. They’re all in this can of worms and will do a “Yea” vote if they get the same deal as Mary Landrieu from LA. They’re all corrupt and we’ll pay for it.

  15. They’ve all got to be voted out.

    All of them.
