Majority Leader Harry Reid today slammed those foolish democratic senators who did not demand goodies for their Obamacare vote
The Politico reported:
“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) offered a vigorous defense Monday of the deals in the Senate reform bill that benefit individual states, saying ‘it doesn’t speak well’ of senators who didn’t secure such deals …”
It’s all about the payoffs.

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.
Some law expert might opine on this – how can congress take away our “right” to chose how we lead our lives (i.e. health care). If SCOTUS allows this to pass – there will be massive civil disobidience or worse.

So Dingy Harry thinks that payoffs is the way the Senate works? The American people might find it interesting just whose money paid off these Senators. Could it have come from the Stimulus Bill? If so, it would be illegal to use the money in that bill for any other purpose than the one for which it was intended. Or was it lobbiest money, if so which lobbiests and what do they get in return. Sounds to me like Harry Reid is so drunk with power he thinks that no law can touch him.
If we get a Republican Congress next year Reid might have some splainin to do.

The American people to our shame have accepted the fact that there are Lobbiest contributions to Congress but a bill passed with just one party’s votes in the middle of the night and the Senate Leader saying this is the way we do business — is a bit over the top.

Mara Liasson recently said on Fox News that: getting projects for their state from Fed money (pork) is a senator’s job. No, it is not a senator’s job! This is a senator’s job (from About.com): “The current oath was enacted in 1884″:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.” The Constitution tells Congress what they should and should not do.
I don’t wish to pick on Mara. She was only concisely saying what Washington, DC thinks. Harry Reid, Murtha, Byrd and almost all in the Congress corruptly use our Fed tax monies to pay for local projects, not because they are doing their jobs but because they they want to remain in office. In office is where the power, money, and sex is. Their job should be to protect federal funds and allocate them wisely for the good of the entire country. Let the states and municipalities fund their local projects. Pork=corruption.

Over the last 50 years in this country we have bent over backwards to insure equal treatment, equal rights and unequivocal fairness to our citizens. How is it still acceptable that legislation is drafted – and then passed that contains unequal treatment of the States? When Senator Reid says, “That’s just the way its done.”, we should recall that when people kept blacks out of community swimming pools, and Jewish people out of their country clubs, they justified and rationalized their behavior it by saying, “That’s just the way its done.”, In other words, to these people, it doesn’t matter that we are a democratic Republic of States. What they are really saying is that the law be damned -we do what we want. These repulsive legislators are acting in blatant violation of the Constitution. Why haven’t there been multiple law suits filed to challenge this abhorrent manner of drafting our laws?

I read a comment by Senator Harkin that it was all about the “principle” and all this “carping” (quoting Obama here) is “small stuff”. He further said that health care was a “right”. I am now struggling to understand my new “right” that it is mandated that I buy from a private enterprise or be fined for not purchasing it. I suspect this is a new Obama “right”. I suspect that there will also be future Obama “rights”. I am all tingly thinking about my new Obama Rights. Rights for the Right. Nice ring to it. Garbage in , garbage out.
