The president feels your pain.
The country is experiencing the worst recession since the Great Depression. The unemployment rate is at a 26 year record high at 10.0%. But, that didn’t stop the Obama family from renting an $8.9 million Hawaiian mansion for the holidays.

I agree we can’t expect the President and his family to spend vacations at Motel 6. But this president has a million dollar home in Chicago (why does he keep pretending Hawaii is his home state when that hasn’t been the case in years?), and he’s got access to the multi-million dollar vacation residence of Presidents colloquially called Camp David. The man has zero sense of the appropriate, and even less regard for the “little people” he pretends to champion.

The Dems criticised “W” for his “vacation time” away from the White House, but I don’t ever recall any news stories about he and Laura renting a luxurious home anywhere! They spent their time at their HOME, just down the road in Crawford, Texas and – aside from the cost of Secret Service protection (which would have been a “cost” no matter where they went) and the Air Force One fuel, we didn’t get charged a dime. If not in Crawford, they went to 41′s place in Maine or Camp David and that didn’t result in millions for each trip, either.
O Bomber has already spent many millions of our dollars for his own enjoyment and entertainment, but it’s “OK”, because it’s the rock star.
If Bush had rented this place in Hawaii, the lamestream media would be all over him like a cheap suit.
Not to worry, though….We’ll take up the deficit spending issue “next month”.

I pray for a conservative landslide in November, and that these conservatives will have enough courage to pass a bill that the president and his family get limited use of Air Force One, and that their vacations are not funded by the feds.
And Motel 6 is where they should be, if that’s what they can afford. Otherwise, they could always go home to Chicago…

First, I don’t believe it’s at taxpayer expense.
I read that on earlier trips, only the secret service detail, and staff, I suppose, are at taxpayer expense.
Second, I agree it seems outrageously dangerous to show everyone exactly where they are, and especially of the girls’ bedroom, while saying, “. . . off to themselves where they can giggle through the night.” That just really made me catch my breath. They shouldn’t tell all that!
But as to the general impression of the thing, I agree, it’s just more Marie Antoinette stuff in a time where so many having such a hard time.
But you know, it’s hard to even care. Here’s a family that claims to be Christian, but doesn’t really celebrate Christmas much, and doesn’t even bother to go to church, not even a Christmas service, despite the fact that he’s president!
The whole thing just seems so . . . unfulfilling, compared to the warmth and comfort many of us enjoy with our families at the holiday season, whether we are short on funds or not.
I guess I’m trying to say, we are capable of enjoying what really are the best things in life, and somehow, I don’t think the Obamas are.

Got me thinking with that. The New Media is a direct reaction to the lack of information a citizenry requires to make informed decisions.
So, while am infuriated at the collapse of the media as any source of ANY actual “news” am heartened that Americans are doing what they do best, coming up with a solution … New Media.
It’s a race though between the totalitarians and the freedom lovers as to who informs the greater public first and whether the greater public is too conditioned to accept information that doesn’t have the same voice as the Old Media… before the totalitarians seize total power under cover of the enabling Old Media.

Let’s say the other two homes rented run at $4,000 each too, then for two weeks, the rental of all three homes would cost $168,000 of taxpayer’s monies. Whatever aircraft Obama took to HI was Air Force One. That’s the call sign of whatever airplane the President is on board.
Whatever it cost to put Obama up in style in HI was well worth it. He can spend a million times more per day when he’s in Washington. And as with all Presidents, a vacation in wherever, is still 95% work, with only little bits of time wedged in to have fun.
Still he should have thought a bit before jetting off to his tropical vacation while the rest of the nation is shoveling snow. He is the President of Symbolism, after all.
