December Shocker… UCLA Study Proves State-Run Media Is Biased

This isn’t exactly earth-shattering news, but it’s worth the mention.
The UCLA Newsroom reported, via Free Republic:
While the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal is conservative, the newspaper’s news pages are liberal, even more liberal than The New York Times. The Drudge Report may have a right-wing reputation, but it leans left. Coverage by public television and radio is conservative compared to the rest of the mainstream media. Meanwhile, almost all major media outlets tilt to the left.
These are just a few of the surprising findings from a UCLA-led study, which is believed to be the first successful attempt at objectively quantifying bias in a range of media outlets and ranking them accordingly.
“I suspected that many media outlets would tilt to the left because surveys have shown that reporters tend to vote more Democrat than Republican,” said Tim Groseclose, a UCLA political scientist and the study’s lead author. “But I was surprised at just how pronounced the distinctions are.”
“Overall, the major media outlets are quite moderate compared to members of Congress, but even so, there is a quantifiable and significant bias in that nearly all of them lean to the left,” said co‑author Jeffrey Milyo, University of Missouri economist and public policy scholar.
The results appear in the latest issue of the Quarterly Journal of Economics, which will become available in mid-December.

Sorry this report is the only thing that leans left, the media is hard left. They don’t just ignore any wrong doing they openly support the lies Obama and Democrats spout. They are the mouthpiece for liberal communist dogma. You don’t need a report all you need to do is listen to their reporting and then compare it to the facts. So what do you believe? This report, or your lying eyes and ears.

it would be interesting to see this study updated to the Obama Era. I think what we have really found out is that the study underestimates the “bias”.
I think bias is actually the wrong word since it implies tendency. There’s no tendency there, just outspoken liberalism. Flacking.
The media is not biased toward the Left, it is flacking for the Left, being the press agency for the Left.
I think when the media say than they are balanced, they mean that they know people who are more Left than they are (e.g. Bill Ayers). The media are against violent revolution, therefore they are “moderate”

The media is not only liberal but dumb as well. There’s no more investigative reporting so one idiot reporter stand at the scene of whatever is being covered, while the studio reporter says things like does anyone know what this is all about and the on scene reporter says there is a lot of speculation but so far no one has any answers.
In the good old days when the media actually was proud to cover news. There would be an expert on the scene telling us the meaning of the situation at hand. Today however, they are content to know no more than the local village idiot just looking pretty.

Quite obviously, as before when commenters have referred to Youtube as “leftist”, you’ve somehow conned yourselves into believe that in some way you reflect a majority. Any news outlet has to make decisions about what story to publish, and “bias” is a term that seems to describe which stories are shown and in what light. It is literally impossible to offer everything to everyone, it is just what is considered important by a majority. The same majority that voted Obama into office in the first place. None of this should be a shock to you nor of any interest, as collectively your status as outsiders is undeniable.

How about the MSM just does their job and report the news! It is NOT their job to apply “bias” to some imaginary “majority”.
Btw, have you looked at the polls lately? If we apply your “logic” then the MSM should be moving to the right politically.
