Breaking: Russians Accuse Brits of Manipulating Global Warming Data …Updated With Video

Junk Science Meltdown–
British climate researchers from Hadley were accused of ignoring the temperature data from Russian weather stations which did not support anthropogenic global warming.

James Delingpole at The Telegraph reported today that the Russians are accusing British scientists of manipulating global warming data.
Climategate just got much, much bigger. And all thanks to the Russians who, with perfect timing, dropped this bombshell just as the world’s leaders are gathering in Copenhagen to discuss ways of carbon-taxing us all back to the dark ages.

A discussion of the November 2009 Climatic Research Unit e-mail hacking incident, referred to by some sources as “Climategate,” continues against the backdrop of the abortive UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen (COP15) discussing alternative agreements to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol that aimed to combat global warming.
The incident involved an e-mail server used by the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, East England. Unknown persons stole and anonymously disseminated thousands of e-mails and other documents dealing with the global-warming issue made over the course of 13 years.
Controversy arose after various allegations were made including that climate scientists colluded to withhold scientific evidence and manipulated data to make the case for global warming appear stronger than it is.
Climategate has already affected Russia. On Tuesday, the Moscow-based Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) issued a report claiming that the Hadley Center for Climate Change based at the headquarters of the British Meteorological Office in Exeter (Devon, England) had probably tampered with Russian-climate data.
The IEA believes that Russian meteorological-station data did not substantiate the anthropogenic global-warming theory. Analysts say Russian meteorological stations cover most of the country’s territory, and that the Hadley Center had used data submitted by only 25% of such stations in its reports. Over 40% of Russian territory was not included in global-temperature calculations for some other reasons, rather than the lack of meteorological stations and observations.
The data of stations located in areas not listed in the Hadley Climate Research Unit Temperature UK (HadCRUT) survey often does not show any substantial warming in the late 20th century and the early 21st century.

This comes as less of a surprise, now that it’s turned out that one of the other main sources of information about global warming was Chinese records that purportedly dated back to 1945.
That is clearly nonsense, simply b/c anyone familiar with Chinese history (something that doesn’t require a degree in climatology or meteorology or atmospheric physics) would know that during both the Great Leap Forward (1957-1960) and the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976), the entire country was in upheaval.
And, yes, that included the meteorologists. Which is what happens when you persecute, internally exile, and punish “intellectuals,” i.e., people who have high school educations or above.
In essence, you have a near 20-year period of inconsistent (at best!) data, if not no data at all.
Yet, the climatologists, atmospheric physicists, and meteorologists blithely accepted Chinese claims to having said data, and incorporated it into their models.
What’s wrong with THAT picture?

I can’t help but think that the developing countries have been listening in on the debate here and in the UK. After all, many of the individuals representing these countries were trained in US or European universities. Their position is, essentially, a challenge to us: they are asking just exactly how serious we are about our stewardship of the environment.
They’ve watched the alarmism and the silliness of the predictions, and the preoccupation with the trivial (CO2) to the near-exclusion of consideration of real pollutants (metals, sewage, industrial waste, solvents).
They have seen us make demands that they sacrifice the needs of their people in order to satisfy a bunch of wealthy talking heads who can’t do math and who give money to “scientists” who destroy raw data.
Frankly, I am amazed at their civility to our delegates. If that were my grandma still using an outhouse, and my cousins with malaria, I’d have a tough time being polite.

Maybe so, but if your grandma would still be like that, how would it be my fault? These countries have gobbled up billions in development aid and they have achieved NOTHING with all the money. Why should we pay all the time for their mistakes and problems?

Did I hear you say Maleria? Let’s not forget that it was the “Silent Spring” crowd that forced DDT off the market. Leaving “spots on the apples” is one thing. But leaving millions to die from a disease that could have been prevented through the effective use of that particular chemical is almost criminal.

This Russian connection is quite interesting. They may or may not be telling the truth, depending on how they view their national interests. The Russians ALWAYS play a deep and deceptive game that is extremely hard to understand.
But isn’t that the case for all countries? If manipulating the climate record can benefit China to the tune of hundreds of billions of real dollars, just how much trust should we have in those records?

Iconoclast, I agree with you. The Russians, or at least, the Russian decision makers, are a capricious bunch. I remember after 9/11, the Russians cozying up to the USA, to help us get into Afghanistan, only to later go back to their sly ways of double-dealing with helping to arm our enemies. Nevertheless, let’s hope this new twist on Climate-gate helps to further bring down this Global Warming scam.
