In 2007 both Barack Obama and Joe Biden continually spoke out against the Bush Surge of troops in Iraq.

From the video: Speaking at Camp Lejeune on February 27, 2009, Barack Obama talked about the success of our efforts in Iraq which he and the Democratic Party tried to undermine on a daily basis.

And don’t forget that in 2007 Barack Obama endorsed genocide rather than keep US troops in Iraq.

But today his top general said he looked at the successful Iraq Surge to plan his Afghanistan strategy.
FOX News reported:

President Obama did acknowledge the success of the surge in Iraq and used some of its lessons to develop a plan in Afghanistan, the head of Central Command said Sunday.

President Obama did acknowledge the success of the surge in Iraq and used some of its lessons to develop a plan in Afghanistan, the head of Central Command said Sunday.

Gen. David Petraeus, who is in charge of military operations throughout the Middle East and Central Asia — regions containing Iraq and Afghanistan — said the president asked him how troops worked to secure the population and achieve cooperation with various Iraqi factions, and held several lengthy sessions to review the principles that could be applied in Afghanistan.

During his presidential campaign, Obama frequently discussed how he strongly opposed the war in Iraq and the surge of 2007.

So does that mean Obama will apologize to Bush and the troops now?

  1. O Bomber apologize? Well, perhaps! He apologizes to world leaders every day, so why not tell George W. Bush “I’m sorry…The ‘surge’ in Iraq was a very smart move and helped win that war”.

(Just thought I’d add as much humor as possible to an otherwise terribly dismal day)

  2. Don’t forget that, during the campaign, Obama was asked if he would change his vote against the Iraq surge, given what he knew now, i.e., that it had worked. He said he would not, and gave some hairbrained reason about the political climate, etc… It is one thing to be on the wrong side of history, like most Democrats, but to be on the wrong side of current events, and to be completely unwilling to admit that you were wrong takes a special form of arrogance and hubirs.

And, to use the plan that you said time and again was a failure (even when it you were proved wrong) as the basis for your “decision” is about as cynical as one can get.

  3. Remember the reaction rock star President Bush received from the troops? Obama’s welcome was, to be kind, frosty. Watch the reaction here:

Obama still doesn’t get it. He’s not playing chess. People get killed when he makes a bad decision and I have no confidence that he will do anything else.

  4. Has Obummer ever apologized to anyone for anything (except, of course, for America to world leaders)? He’s too arrogant to appreciate that he’s stealing Bush’s plans and policies…
    .

  5. No man can blame Obama for doing the right thing, sort of.

  6. I actually agree with Obama on this point. Letting Afghanistan go back to the broader civil war from the general warfare is probably a lot more manageable for the Karzi government. Then of course we can let India and Pakistan inflame the region during their eventual march to a nuclear exchange. Why would we ever want to stand in the way of regional progress.

  7. I have no problem with Hussein using Bush’s strategy. If left to his own devices he would screw it up to the utmost. The clown is still community organizing and will never advance beyond. The good news is that he is consolidating the conservatives and that is good. As this jerk screws up hopefully more people will become aware of what is really taking place in this country.

  8. Democrats can’t fight, they only know how to back-stab, like nasty girls. They have no idea as to what a military is for so they have NO CLUE as to WHEN to use it and WHEN not to.
But they have found it useful to have around for ONE purpose useful for the Democrat Party. They blame the military for all problems, despite the fact that the military is UNDER the CIVILIAN leadership – their failed leadership. But “blame the military” for the Democrat civilian incompetence works for people who are too lazy to put a brain cell to how our government is organized.

  9. omaba couldn’t carry President George W. Bush’s jock strap.

  10. 0bama:

Let me be clear, I will not apologize to anyone – except other world leaders. This now my war. You may now refer to it as Obama’s War. I am not interested victory – and I may actually be at war with our own troops.

Make no mistake, I will tighten the Rules of Engagement so tight around the troop’s necks that their eyeballs will pop out. If even one Taliban gets a fat lip I will bring our troops up on charges of war crimes. I will put Kos and Arianna Huffington in charge of enforcing those Rules.

I will request white gloves for every military person who might handle a Koran. I have ordered nothing more harmful than pea shooters and spit balls be used against the Taliban. In fact, to be fair to my Muslim friends I have given them our complete game plan including my cut-and-run exit date. That should give them plenty of time to regroup and retaliate against our crappy America troops.

When our troops get killed I will be there for a photo opportunity. I will give an 0bama salute as the flag draped coffin passes and mutter “you suck.” I expect many more troops will be killed and the military will finally learn how much they suck. In fact, America sucks. Just ask Bill Ayers. I apologize to the world for America’s suckatude.

My Jumbo Jet is warmed up and I have to correct the unfortunate ClimateGate scandal. It could really ruin Al Gore, George Soros, and I. There is so much money at stake I cannot let it slip through my fingers. Now, I have to look busy. I must go. Good day.

  11. I just watched an hour long program on the annual red Flag exercise at Nellis AFB. What terrific servicemen and women we are fortunate to have.

Too bad that feeling of pride doesn’t extend to the mess we have up at the White House.

    no Pearl Harbor post GP??

How Pearl Harbor changed the U.S. 68 years ago
today and what the president told a shocked nation

[Last week we had President Obama's less-than-rousing Afghanistan war speech, trying to have it both ways by dispatching more troops while promising a scheduled departure. And not once using the word "victory."

Today, coincidentally, is the 68th anniversary of the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, where shortly the 44th president will fly with his family and White House entourage for a holiday vacation. Few Ticket readers will remember the shock that swept the country that quiet Sunday, not unlike 9/11 would do 60 years later. And the millions of lives affected by those events.

So here as a political refresher are two historic videos -- one about the actual attack itself by 350 planes from Imperial Japanese aircraft carriers more than 200 miles away.

The other video includes President Franklin D. Roosevelt's famous war speech the very next day, the one saying that Dec. 7, 1941, would live in infamy. And here we are 24,837 days later remembering.]

It Has Always Been The Soldier

    It is the soldier,
not the President who gives us democracy.

    It is the soldier,
not the Congress who takes care of us.

    It is the soldier,
not the Reporter who has given us Freedom of Press.

    It is the soldier,
not the Poet who has given us Freedom of Speech.

    It is the soldier,
not the campus [community] Organizer who
has given us the Freedom to Demonstrate.

    It is the soldier,
    who salutes the flag;
    who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
that allows the protester to burn the flag.

~ Father Dennis O’Brien, US Marine Corp. Chaplain

    God Bless America!

God Bless Soldiers everywhere for putting THEIR
lives on the line to protect us ALL from terrorism!
