After Passenger Saves Plane From Terrorist Bombing– New Rules Require Heroic Passengers to Stay Seated During Last Hour of Flight

It’s an Obama World… Up is down, big is small, losing jobs is creating or saving jobs, and heroes are asked to be seated.
Yesterday, Jasper Schuringa, a video director and producer from Amsterdam, told CNN how he helped the cabin crew to subdue Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the 23-year-old who reportedly ignited a small explosive device on board the plane Friday as it prepared to land in Detroit.
The New York Daily News reported:
Schuringa said he heard a sound that reminded him of a firecracker and someone yelling, “Fire! Fire!”
He saw Abdulmutallab’s pants open and he was holding a burning object between his legs.
“I pulled the object from him and tried to extinguish the fire with my hands and threw it away,” Schuringa said.
He said he then screamed for water and pulled Abdulmutallab out of his seat and dragged him to the front of the plane.
In response to this courageous act of heroism, the Obama Administration enacted new policies today. The new rules will force heroic passengers to stay in their seats for the final hour of their flight before landing.

This makes perfect sense.
In the liberal mind it is the government’s responsibility to keep the people safe.
The individual, by taking matters into his own hands, is usurping the government’s power. Since liberals perceive the purpose of government as being to amass and maintain power, his actions are as much a threat to the terrorist as they are a threat to the government’s ability to maintain control over the public.
Oddly enough, the terrorist does not constitute a threat to the liberals in power. The terrorist can kill hundreds (even thousands in the case of 9/11) but such atrocities do not constitute a threat to government power. However, the response to them DOES constitute a threat to government power, thus the first response of government is to limit the public’s ability to repeat such events.

OK, let me get this stright. New rules say you must stay seated one hour before landing. Therefore I guess on any flights lasting less than one hour you are to be strapped in. Cute! Better take those potty breaks before you board ,if you are on a short hop and forbid the thought of changing any dirty nappies.
Just another well thought “knee jerk” action by our dim witted leaders in Washington. Take corrective action on the ground not in the air.

Seriously….. I said to friends of mine last night that this dude saved a bunch of people and will end up costing every domestic passenger the ability to go to the bathroom while in flight.

A fella on the tube stated that it is unlikely a terrorist would choose to detonate a bomb just before a plane lands, and they’ve tried the scenario of not allowing passengers out of their seat for the last hour of the flight and it wasn’t feasible.

Just heard the one hour rule for staying in your seat is for overseas fights not US flights. So my post earlier was in error except for the “dim witted ” leaders in Washington.
We can survive if we vote this current bunch of “dimwitts” out of office in 2010 and 2012. We will have only ourselves to blame if we let our country slip away in to a third world status!!!

If the terrorist was allowed to board without a passport, that would be a SECOND point of failure under existing procedures.
The first was that he was on the terrorist watch list and was not singled out for further screening.
These are not minor infractions, they are both examples of blatant and inexcusable incompetence. Nortwest Airline and the Transportation “Safety” Administration share responsibility for this failure to adhere to standard procedures.

I have another issue; swelling ankles.
On long international flights I occasionally have a problem with my feet and ankles swelling. Not every flight. But my affliction is common enough among flight crews that they are aware of my need to walk in an attempt to reduce the amount of fluid in my lower extremities.
My last flight to Budapest left me with swollen ankles for four days. And, the swelling is pretty painful.
I can’t imagine what they’re thinking. It isn’t safety. But, it is a response.

If they think we will sit quitely and follow the “rules” waiting for someone to blow up our plane – they are brain dead idiots. We will not go quitely into the night like a herd of sheep. Some people have medical conditions that require frequent trips to the toilet – guess we just have to urinate on the cabin floor then. El Al is right – we have a passenger annoyance system. How did this guy even get on the flight in the first place. The cabin crews cannot handle several muslim men getting up and moving around the cabin like the two previous incidents. Passengers will take action and I dare any jury in Texas to convict us.

If you read this site’s angle it would make it sound like Obama wanted the terrorist to succeed. Deep Vain Thrombosis is a very real heath threat on long trips,causeing blood clots in the artery’s in the legs. These break free and make there way to the brain causing strokes or later,heart attacks.
Its supposed to be manditory to allow people to move around to stop this from happening.
I think its also a health regulation for international and long flights.
Personaly, I’m surprised this creature made it off the plane still breathing.

I fly from time to time to Asia and back. Anyone who’s been on an 11 hour flight knows that about an hour down to the 30 minutes there is a mass migration to the toilets. It stems from two facts, the liquids consumed and the increased pressure on the bladder due to the descent.
Are they going to issue piss bottles? All us folks over 40 (in my case over 60) just have to drain the lizzard. The women have it worse and they really can’t pinch it off. When some unfortunate woman pisses herself and has to suffer the humiliation, what then?
Like the Israelis say, our system is only to annoy the passengers not the jihadiis.

What happens when everybody is packed to go use the potty over an hour before the flight lands? What if your flight is between say, Los Angeles and Phoenix? You can’t get up to pee at all or stretch?
