What a shock. The Daily Kos GOP candidate Dede Scozzafava is supporting the democrat.
dede
Former GOP far left candidate Dede Scozzafava urged her supporters yesterday to vote for democrat Bill Owens.
The Watertown Daily Times reported:

In her statement Saturday morning, the assemblywoman explained the reasons behind her decision: “It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so.”

During the day Saturday, she began to quietly and thoughtfully encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens.

Ms. Scozzafava finished a distant third in the latest Siena Research Institute poll with 20 percent support of likely voters. Her opponents, Mr. Owens and Conservative Douglas L. Hoffman, garnered 36 percent and 35 percent respectively.

UPDATE: Dede’s not alone.
Her husband endorsed the democrat last night, too.

  1. Hey, Gingrich and Steele! Told ya so.

  2. Not a shocker for a Rino. She will betray Republicans anyway if she get elected. Send your money directly to your preferred candidate.

  3. She wants them to vote for her ACORN and WFP buddy. Way to go GOP, you just showed us your true color – COMMIE RED!

  4. ADVERTISEMENT

  5. Those of us who actually have a local, conservative GOP county party are sickened by this mess with Scozzafava… She would have never passed the ‘smell’ test out here and to think that she rec’d millions from a nat’l GOP congressional fund is infuriating. Take the money and run, huh Dede… Newt’s endorsements will lack credibility from now on and I urge conservatives from the NY 23 Congressional District to run for central committee and take back your county party. Get involved, start attending their meetings and commandeer that political vehicle.

I agree with Rush and Levin – take back the GOP! When people are gushing over the Independent party I ask them…where is your county HQ? It doesn’t exist. Where is your local voter registration effort? It doesn’t exist. Where are your plans for 2010 in terms of precinct operations? They don’t exist..

    Take back your county party!!!!

  6. Gingrich (sharpton pelosi buddy)Steele (pd. off)
they were in on it…we are being corrupted from within….billions of dollars to spread, and soros and his gang have spread it…starting with McLame during the amnesty kerfuffle.

    Bless you Sarah

    FIRE STEELE NOW

  7. Shame on the GOP.

  8. Not sure I believe this assertion from the Owens-endorsing Watertown Times. Where’s the reporters’ support or quote?

  9. All the more reason too look for conservative runners from the get go. Socialist republicans are not the answer now nor have they ever been.

  10. See, i’ve been saying it over and over that there is a lot of demo rats dressed in republican clothes! Another discusting scum of the earth!

Please, people please vote for Mr. Hoffman. Help to save our wonderful America and to get rid of the scum.

  11. Hey Newt,
Maybe you should become a Democrat being that you like to pal around with the likes of pelosi on the big comfy climate change sofa and now backing this RINO dede. I mean, really, you are supposed to be a smart politician. If little ol’ me can figure out that making nice (politically) with those people is a dumb idea, you sure as h*ll should know. DUH!

  12. All the more reason to look for a conservative runner from the start. Socialist Republicans are not the answer now or ever.As of late Both the Dems and repubs are sliding down a line towards socialism.

  13. The witch, the newt and the warlock.

  14. AWFUL.

    A TRAITOR.

  15. I’ll be watching closely to see how Mr. Gingrich spins this. Unless he does some major explaining and apologizing, his brand will be severely damaged and it will be impossible to take him seriously as a conservative voice.

  16. Bill

Gingrich was on Fox this morning. I did not hear what he said because I was so busy cooking breakfast. I figured that I would go over to Greta’s blog and see what they are saying.

  17. Did you hear Newt dancing around the issue and back tracking this morning on Fox and Friends? Another mistake he made was giving Scozzafava cudos for stepping down. He gave the impression that she sacrificed herself for the good of the GOP and of course Hoffman.

I am sorry, but the fact that she is backing the far left Lib is really going to hurt Newt and the GOP for backing her. You always have to be careful listening to some in the GOP who have been in Washington too long.

  18. If this is successful and a Conservative win happens watch how many of the “moderates” all of a sudden become “conservative”.There will need to be some weeding out using of course the internet wayback machine.

  19. If this post is true it is a very blatant example of the wholesale corruption of our Republican party leaders. We should all take note. I think this might mean war.

  20. That “bush” haircut gave her away as not a normal republican. Just like janet reno and the current janet naepolitan and that fruitloop rosie odonell. There all weirdos with an agenda. Sarah Palin saw her for who she was and told us the truth.
“she was who we thought she was, if you want to crown her a$$ go ahead, but she was who we thought she was. And we left her off the hook” slams microphone and storms out of the room.

  21. SoCalChick is so right. There is no grassroots effort in most counties within the Rep Party establishment, it’s only the tea partiers who are agitating the entrenched.

It really is time to get to work, run for office, take local leadership positions.

I’m tired of ranting at the NRCC fundraisers who call me. You ain’t getting any more of my money until you clean house.

  22. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so.”

Hilarious. Would they otherwise have had to stay home and not vote?

  23. Dede Scozzafava’s “quiet[ly] and thoughtful[ly]” is no more than knife in the back vengeance. Sarah Palin and Doug Hoffman were right to do us a favor and take her out. In so doing, they made it possible for her to reveal exactly who she is, what the current GOP leadership is about. Neither Scozzafava or the current leadership will be in positions of power in the GOP in the future.

    Shameful troll comment of the week: “jonyjoe101 November 1st, 2009 | 9:54 am | #22
That “bush” haircut gave her away as not a normal republican. ”

Shameful comment, jonyjoe101. Simply shameful is the best way to describe the implication of your comment. So, according to your lights, the Log Cabin Republicans are not “normal republican[s]“. What’s a “normal republican,” jonyjoe101?

I can tell you. Being a “normal republican” has nothing to do with sex or lifestyle. It’s all about ideology: limited government, liberty, fiscal sobriety, and the like.

Try not to inject your prejudices into the conversation and claim that your prejudices are “normal republican.”

  24. Ginger

Why not the libs have infiltrated many organizations you name it.Why wouldn’t they have infiltrated the GOP?

  25. Another Arlen Specter. Good riddance.

  26. So Newt is this the kind of Republican we want representing us? Another Benedict Arlen.

  27. I’m running a bit behind this morning; haven’t seen this anywhere except here….and have my doubts as to it’s veracity, but – it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if it’s true. I said yesterday that she had a golden opportunity to accept her fate graciously and urge her supporters to back the Conservative, but she didn’t….and lost any respect I might have had for her, politically. She’s certainly not a RINO…that gives RINOs a bad name. She’s a libtard Democrat.

  28. Not a shock, she was a dem all along to anyone paying attention.

  29. It sure looks like ol’ Newt can really pick’em.

So, from here on out, I should pay any attention to what Newt says………….why?

Much as I hate to say it, Newt has now managed to lose ALL credibility with me. In fact, I find it hard to believe that he didn’t know beforehand that that bitter little socialist bi*ch would have voted with the democrats right down the line.
    Newt is now irrelevant.

  30. Dang! She’s a little out of my area for me to be paying much attention. I’ve got enough of them trolling in Texas. Sorry. I’ll try harder.

  31. A wolf in sheep’s clothing. Nobody with her record can claim to be a Republican. Unfortunately, there are a lot of them already in office as Republican RINOS. Americans have woken up to their illegitimacy and hopefully will vote them out and not vote them in.

  32. Newt also missed Obama’s leftist idealogy too. What is it about politicians that makes them Rodney Kings (Can’t we all get along?) after they leave office?

I would like to see Palin as the next leader of the Republican Party–she has earned her stripes.

  33. Looks like something funny was going on with the local Republican officials who chose her to run. Had we had a Primary this lady Judas would never have been the Republican nominee. It will be interesting to see if in this safe Republican Seat her supporters will now go for Owens. I DON’T THINK SO….

  34. [...] Dede Scozzafava did the GOP a favor by realizing she was not what the voters wanted and allowing conservativce Hoffman to run ‘unopposed’ against the democrat Owens. But the lack maturity from the far right has not just pushed Scozzafava out of the way, they pushed her all the way into the Democrat’s hands. [...]

Let the Democrats have her with my blessings. The woman was an Acorn Republican.

  35. Better that her true stripes are revealed before the election than afterwards in Congress. Not that anyone with half a brain cell couldn’t see her stripes anyway.

  36. The NRCC should make her pay back all of the
money they spent on her campaign.

  37. The problem with the Republican Party is not the elected officials but the Republican Pundits who have sold their souls to Obama. They love to talk about the end of Reagan Republicans and want the party to become a pale imitation of the Democrats. But nothing succeeds like success and Republicans themselves will treat this as a wakeup call to become more in line with the people who by 40% declare themselves Conservative.

As a former lifelong Dem I don’t believe the Republicans need to be more like Dems to attract Dem voters. The reason so many Dems voted for Reagan was Reagan himself and his message which resonated with all Americans.

  38. “But the lack maturity from the far right has not just pushed Scozzafava out of the way, they pushed her all the way into the Democrat’s hands. [...]”
    ……………
Total BS. Scozzafava has dispayed her TOTAL lack of professionalism, political ME-ME-ME, and her COMPLETE lack of even a SHRED of loyalty to the GOP. She took the (R) tag to DECEIVE. And with awards from Planned Parenthood and cozy with ACORN, it required some serious self-delusion for so-called Republicans to think she’d be anything but what she was getting feted by the Left for. How “In-your-face” does it have to be?
But it’s the “far right’s fault.”
The so-called “far right’s” transgression was to tell the GOP that they were standing on the interstate with a tractor-trailer bearing down on them. Noo! I’ll stay RIGHT HERE!.
    WAAAAAAHHHH!

    Clue-bat to GOP:
“Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.”

  39. In all fairness I’m a little skeptical of the paper’s wording…“she began to quietly and thoughtfully encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens”….it seems very incongruous and obtuse in context in a paper that endorsed Owens. Where is the context and the direct quotes on this?

I’m no fan of Dede’s, and, that sentence doesn’t pass the smell test.

The Watertown Daily Times wouldn’t be the first lefty rag to lie. Since they are endorsing Owens, how convenient to give the appearance that Dede is endorsing him too.

    …………..
    Well said!

  42. Bye bye DeDe, don’t let the door hit you in your…

  43. It’s interesting that the Watertown Daily Times made no mention today of Dede supporting Owens which leads me to believe they made it up in that earlier article to throw her votes to Owens.

    http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/article/20091101/NEWS03/311019920

    Lefties lie.

  44. Disgusting. I hate “Republicans” like this.

    Totally disgusting.

  45. mmm…

having read her statements, she doesn’t seem to endorse anyone.

just an interpretation provided by “The Watertown Daily Times” and others who wish to see the worst.

i wish she would endorse Hoffman, but i think that is a little too much after the political expression provided by Mr. Hoffman’s campaign against her.

yet, i see no direct, formal, etc., endorsement of the Democrat.

perhaps passion is getting the best of some…

maybe we need to make certain we are all objective, fair, and reasoned.

  46. Well, I tried to post links to GE’s announcement of Ol’ Newtie having been selected to sit on the board of their Healthymagination product as well as a link to a story at examiner dot com entitled “Obamagate – The tangled web of Obama, GE, Immelt, Cap & Trade, GE Healthcare and Daschle part III.” Ol’ Newtie, like most of Washington, stands to make bazillions from the socialization of our country and needs to be tossed out with the rest of them.

  47. I’m sure everyone remembers GWB coming out for amnesty and guest workers and the resulting fight. That was quite RINO-like of GWB to push that, wasn’t it?

Now, take a look at Hoffman’s stance on that issue. He strongly appears to be supporting at least “guests”, and based on my extensive experience he’s the type that could be convinced to support an amnesty “compromise”. Any of that would raise your taxes and reduce your electoral power. Maybe it would be a good idea to ask him about that now rather than finding out how bad he is later.

  48. I agree with Auntie. Newt is off my list of good guys. So is Gov Huckabee. Why wouldn’t each of them put policy over party? I’m done with the both of them.

  49. Somebody has egg on their face.

And you can keep Huckabee, he lies too much.

  50. I no longer trust Newt, and my trust is waning on Michael Steele. We’ll pick the candidate, they can follow if they want, if not, let them go their own way.

  51. Dede endorsement of Owens will generate a new acronym in GOP politics. Mark Steyn is said to have coined DIABLO, Not sure who coined RINO. But today it is fitting that I try my attempt at a name for the Dede type republicans;

PAARIPO = Parading Around As Republicans In Primaries Only!

Once they get elected, they just vote with the democrats.

Dede Scozzafava is a classic P.A.A.R.I.P.O.

  52. Proof that the RNC isn’t in touch with conservatives. That’s okay. Scuzzo is acting out of sour grapes, but we can still back our principles. She’s clearly trying to cover her hide. No big loss. It ain’t over till it’s over.

  53. I think some Dems want Dem-lite Republicans because it reminds them of what a Democrat used to be. But even a Dem-lite has moved farther left than most conservative Dems would prefer.

    Independent, Principled and Proud

  54. I will no longer send money to support the RNC, I’ll send money directly to the candidate.
And by the way, shouldn’t the RNC ask for their money back?? Geez… they spent nearly 1 million of our contributions.

  55. Deze, husband is over two big Union,so i have read on some internet site.

  56. I’m shocked by this news!

Not that Scozzafava has endorsed the Democrat Owens — that’s completely understandable since her politics align with his and she’s got to have some resentment against Hoffman.

No, I’m shocked to learn, after weeks of seeing her photographs here, that Scozzafava has a husband. What’s happened there?

  57. Gingrich went out on his superior limb for Scozza, disdained anyone who disagreed. He’s the only person in the country not living in NY23 so superior that he can show the way. He is a joke, an embarrassment, a clown, a deceitful failure. He takes up valuable air we desperately need to get our country back. Somebody get this guy off the stage. Fox News should stop giving him air time.

  58. What with putting forward and recommending RINO Democrats such as Dede Scozzafava, Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, etc. no wonder the Republican Party is such shoddy shape.

Michael Steele, Newt Gingrich, the RNC, RNCC, RNSC, etc. have just been thoroughly exposed and shamed.

As for myself, I have stopped giving money to them. I will definitely consider supporting whomever Sarah Palin recommends, but that is it.

  59. Hey, Dede — You owe us $900,000.

RNCC: Have we learned anything yet?

  60. 0bama:

Let me be clear. I did not influence Ms. Scozzafava. I just promised her a lush job at ACORN, a $250,000 salary and a limousine. That’s all.

  61. Scozzafava stole $907,000 from the GOP. She should be arrested and charged with fraud for impersonating a Republican.
