Pakistan’s premier intelligence building was blown up by a suicide car bomber today.
The Age reported:
Seven people were killed and 35 others wounded when a bomb exploded outside the offices of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency in the city of Peshawar on Friday, security officials said.
Witnesses said the headquarters of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) in the northwestern city was heavily damaged after the blast, with huge clouds of smoke spewing into the sky and debris littered on the ground.
The building was almost destroyed and even a building across the road badly damaged, an AFP reporter said. He saw three bodies lying on the ground.

Dang! When Paki chickens decide to roost, they can do some serious damage!

there is a certain bit of ironic humor in this, since it was/is the ISI that helped shape and push the Taliban into power, leading to the current strife.

This may result in the ISI rethinking their relationship with the Taliban.

This is what happens when nations don’t take the terrorist(man cause disaster) threat seriously. I doubt anyone in the office of Homeland security is taking any notes.
Pakistan doesn’t seem to be learning from the previous terrorist attacks, it is more interested in pursuing an outgoing president (Musharraf) for alleged treason, something similar to what is happening in the US.

Do we know this was terrorism? This could have just been some guy feeling a little stressed.
Bruce commented:
I blame this horrific event on Pakistan’s love of explosive devices.

Were any of the bombers carrying SOA cards?

Obviously. it was just a case of pure allah-love that caused some devoutly religious lad to get all ‘splodey as he passed the ISI building.
What else could it have been? Surely the taliban wouldn’t turn on their friends. Would they?
Stephen commented:
Isn’t there supposed to be a problem with Muslims killing other Muslims…..looks like the experts beg to differ. Sorry Hasan.

These must be heady days for al Qaeda types. No more hiding in caves! They feel empowered to attack even their patrons in the Pakistani power structure (apparently for failing to sufficiently protect them from retaliation). Their insurgency in Afghanistan grows as Obama dithers on which micromanagement approach he will adopt before cutting and running like a frightened child.
Not too long ago, their successful attacks against Americans drew vows of justice and resolve which were swiftly backed up; today the official reaction is “don’t jump to conclusions.”

cue the local news announcement “today’s bombings and mass casaulties brought to you through the generous funding of Hassan and al qaeda.”
… which are of course, synonymous.

The building’s name is an oxymoron.
