Obama Gives Up Control of Internet

More hope and change…
The Obama Administration just gave up control of the internet.
The Guardian reported:
After complaints about American dominance of the internet and growing disquiet in some parts of the world, Washington has said it will relinquish some control over the way the network is run and allow foreign governments more of a say in the future of the system.
Icann – the official body that ultimately controls the development of the internet thanks to its oversight of web addresses such as .com, .net and .org – said today that it was ending its agreement with the US government.
The deal, part of a contract negotiated with the US department of commerce, effectively pushes California-based Icann towards a new status as an international body with greater representation from companies and governments around the globe.

This may not seem ominous, however this will allow more anti-American groups to gain access to the ‘mainstream’ net channels as well as allowing Jihadist groups to post their satanic rot online. As things are, nobody is going around sending virus’s to Jihadist recruiting sites or seeking to remove them from servers. One could call this a form of international ‘net neutrality’ as the Jihadists will have a ‘greater say.’

What this will mean is that development cycles will become more bureaucratic, thus resulting in fewer innovations over a given span of time.
Think bottlenecks and quibbling over new standards and technologies.

So the obamao has given up some control to foreign govt`s. Chavez does not like the way a website portrays him so he pulls the plug to the site. The time will come when our internet will be like China`s.

I just watched the movie 300 for the first time. (yumm, but we’ll take about that later;-)
Anyway, curiosity got the best of me, so I started looking up Sparta, and the battle of Thermopylae. While this movie never claimed to be historically accurate, I was suprised by the reaction to it.
I came across this guy, and I thought you might find his article interesting. Suprising, no. But he’s a professor, at a liberal college in California, and (IMO) part of the cancer that is eating away at America.

Dr. Touraj Daryaee uses centuries of history to argue against a small time frame of an historical event. He paints Persian social/communistic control — which it was at that time, argued by Aristotle as so, to place them as this benevolent race, when in fact Persians attacked the Greek settlements first on the coast of western Anatolia — long before the time frame of 300.
