Newt Gingrich refused to apologize to the nation’s conservatives tonight for backing far left liberal Dede Scozzafava in the NY-23 race and for attacking “misinformed” conservatives and candidate Hoffman:

Prior to this debacle, I had a modicum of respect for Newt despite his abysmal performance as a human being (discussing divorce details with wife post cancer surgery who was a replacement wife, herself).
One very good deed, Contract with America, only carries one so far in life. Sorry Newt, you have lost a heck of a lot of supporters over THIS particular choice.

Gingrich was obviously right for endorsing Dede at the time. Hoffman had virtually no chance of winning at that point. He was a 3rd party candidate and had less than 5% support. And Gingrich didn’t handpick the Republican candidate. The local Republicans did. He merely supported her since he believed a liberal Republican which will agree with you 75% of the time is better than allowing a leftist Democrap to win who will vote against you nearly 100% of the time. It’s pretty simple logic and there’s nothing for him to apologize for honestly. This vile attack on Gingrich is just really shocking and disturbing. It seems a lot of people on the far right are hungry for some good old fashioned witch hunting. Anyone who doesn’t agree with us 100% of the time must burn! While that might work in the fairy tale world of blogs and talk radio it won’t work too well in the real world since most people are right leaning moderates. And besides, Hoffman didn’t win and there’s no ignoring that simple fact despite how much everyone here seems to want to change reality. And that “inconvienent truth” of course vindicated the decision of Gingrich to go with the sure bet over a risky last minute newbie. It’s as if we on the right have quickly forgotten what Gingrich has done for the cause of conservativism. He was the main architect for creating the first Republican majority in congress in about 40 years which stopped horribly destructive liberalism in its tracks. So if anyone has any weight of authority on how to win elections and create an effective right wing conservative movement it’s Gingrich. Yet just because he made a pretty sensible endorsement you’re all willing to chop his political head off and spit on his dead decaying corpse? Really? And Gingrich is probably one of our best bets for reclaiming the White House in 2012. Please don’t ruin it with these idiotic purges.

He didn’t HAVE to endorse anyone in that election. He chose to do so and got egg on his face. For me that was 3 strikes and he’s OUT of my consideration for anything.

You probably thought McCain was “one of our best bets” too, right? And Colin Powell too? It’s time to clean house! There’s too much at stake for us to go all soft and mushy because of what they’ve done in the past.

Owens is more conservative than Scozzafava ‘the snake’ is. That is in and of itself frightening. Did she not have a conservative score of 12 compared to McCain’s 65? And didn’t Obama have a 10? Think of it this way, do you think the Democrats would run someone with a liberal score of 12 (which means 88 conservative)? I don’t think I need to answer that one.
Also, having a democrat, even a liberal one in is better than a RINO as in that person can’t be used as a tool by the left to show that this is the ‘true’ Republican party and at the same time, allow them to ‘intervene’ in the so-called civil war. Let the Dems in, they show everyone how they fail in only 1 year, however it takes conservatives about 10 years to forget they are conservative (i.e., Newt).

As for what I think you were saying:
Scozzafava would not have voted with the House Republicans “75% of the time”. She is a bona fide liberal, and would have voted accordingly.
(Did you not take a hint when she endorsed the Democrat after she dropped out?)
She stated that she would caucus with the Republicans for 2010 – but refused to commit to doing so thereafter. This woman was a Trojan horse candidate, who – without any doubt whatsoever – would have switched parties at some point, once elected.
As for Neutered Gingrich: take another hint. His political career as an elected Republican is finished.

That said, I understand there’s a future national bus tour opportunity with Newt and Meghan McCain. Like minds, Meghan’s into those kind, crossing-the-center moderates* (one who acts like a hard-core leftist except for when it comes to taxing the holy crap out of the elite upper class, to which one should then and only then act like a “conservative”).
And Newt’s shown he’s into the joys of exploring nontraditional relationships. Monogamy is so much the stuff of extreme right-wing haters! Do we really think Newt’s endorsement of global warming and the goofy commercial with Nancy was a mistake. I think it was a deliberate act to further his political and get votes should he decide to run for POTUS. Newt has a really questionable background with NWO people and should of been vetted throughly including Michael Steele. With all the really good men why these questionables.
The GOP, RNC won’t get my membership this year. McCain, Romney, Steele (to name a few)just about sealed their fate with me. Shows very poor and desperate judgement.

Newt’s problem is that he still thinks that reliance upon the chart-man/focus-group approach to politics … i.e. paying more attention to the numbers and nuances of a model for human behavior in order to “assure” Republican control, instead of focusing upon the promotion/implementation of the fundamentals of sound principle within real life in order to assure conservative governance … is sufficient for this nation to remain free and prosperous.
This is especially troubling, as he apparently knows the value of conservative governance.
He is a creature of the misplaced priorities within the Beltway … as I discerned eleven years ago, when I left the GOP and became an independent when he and Trent Lott pushed for military spending that would benefit their districts … while Congress was holding hearings about soldiers qualifying for food stamps.
He says a lot of the right things … but falls short when it comes to implementing them.

Newt, the old political paradigm IS the problem today … it is no longer (D) vs. (R), but (US) vs. (DIM), and you are acting like one of the (DIM) right now.
Better to elect a Blue Dog — and leave a true conservative as the frontrunner for the GOP in NY-23 for 2010 — than to score another (R) right now.
