Islam Recognizes Homosexuality

But, be careful coming out of that closet.
They don’t have a very stellar track record.
A group of moderate Muslim scholars have recognized homosexuality as natural and from God.
The Jakarta Times reported:
Homosexuals and homosexuality are natural and created by God, thus permissible within Islam, a discussion concluded here Thursday.
Moderate Muslim scholars said there were no reasons to reject homosexuals under Islam, and that the condemnation of homosexuals and homosexuality by mainstream ulema and many other Muslims was based on narrow-minded interpretations of Islamic teachings.
Siti Musdah Mulia of the Indonesia Conference of Religions and Peace cited the Koran’s al-Hujurat (49:3) that one of the blessings for human beings was that all men and women are equal, regardless of ethnicity, wealth, social positions or even sexual orientation.
“There is no difference between lesbians and nonlesbians. In the eyes of God, people are valued based on their piety,” she told the discussion organized by nongovernmental organization Arus Pelangi.
“And talking about piety is God’s prerogative to judge,” she added.
“The essence of the religion (Islam) is to humanize humans, respect and dignify them.”
Musdah said homosexuality was from God and should be considered natural, adding it was not pushed only by passion.
Mata Air magazine managing editor Soffa Ihsan said Islam’s acknowledgement of heterogeneity should also include homosexuality.
That was bold.
We’ll see how this plays out soon enough.

The headline’s a bit misleading. These guys are isolated theologians, as indeed are all Islamic scholars and the like for the simple reason that Islam isn’t really all that organized.
Islam used to have a caliph who nominally served as the religious leader for all Muslims, but that was mostly a ceremonial position and anyway there’s no one in that position now. As for the rest of the hierarchy, the only place there’s much of a centralized religious authority is in Iran. Everywhere else, Islamic leadership is almost all local. The rest of the Islamic world will most likely scoff at these moderates as heretics, and–yes–send assassins or suicide bombers to murder them. These theologians represent “Islam” about as well as J Street represents Israel.

Step 1. Announce that which is formerly banned is now openly tolerated.
Step 2. Ask those who were oppressed by the former ban to come out so that the public can embrace and apologize.

I am looking for the site will post it when I find it. About Christian missionaries who were evanglizing during the Ottoman Empire wrote about how rampant open and hedonisic homosexual relationships were. Might make SF or West Hollywood blush (maybe).

There is no freewill in Islam……ever. There will always be some Muslim who believes they have the right to take the life of someone who converts from Islam to another religion. They seem to tolerate Muslims who do not practice, as long as they do not convert. I pity anyone born into Islam – it is a life and death sentence, whether you can live within it or not.
