Is it really OK to view the fall of communism as an American victory?
We certainly wouldn’t want to offend the commies.
Far Left Today Show host Matt Lauer wonders if the fall of the Berlin Wall really was an American victory.
Ya think?
Via Breitbart TV
That the state-run media would question the significance of this historic anniversary surprises no one.
They didn’t much like Ronald Reagan either.

Matt Lauer disgusts me. What a tool he really is.
Cold War Vet commented:
The West does not do enough of celebrating its victory in the Cold War.
The Cold War went for over 40 years and the democratic, capitalist west beat the dictatorial, oppressive communists.
Without the US in Europe the USSR would have swallowed up Europe and the last 60 plus years would have been a lot different and a lot worse.
A huge round of standing ovation, applause for America in its support of freedom in Europe.
manateespirit commented:
I would say the fall of German communism was a victory for the East Germans. On the news today, I have been watching the German people celebrating, EVEN THOUGH OUR “AMERICAN” PRESIDENT WOULDN’T ATTEND. (I use the term “American” loosely…he IS president of the world, correct?)
I think perhaps this celebration has less to do with our country and more to do with the idea of German freedom.
Where is Lauer’s head? One guess.
Bfunky commented:
Yeah, and we had very little to do with what went on at Guadalcanal or Normandy beach too.
What an asshat.

Zipity commented:
I have to admit I “hated” Ronald Reagan while he was President. But then again, I was young and stupid. What’s Matt and Tom’s excuse….?
cranialoutlet commented:
Matt Lauer should pick up a copy of “A World Transformed” by former President George H.W. Bush and his National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft before making more uninformed statements like the one he made on The Today Show. Not only does A World Transformed demostrate the intimate and constant involvement of all parts of the first Bush administration with respect to America’s foreign policy during the democratic revolutions in communist Germany and other former Soviet bloc states, but it is (in many instances) a first hand account of the strategies, secret meetings, policy shifts, treaties and aid packages that the first Bush administration put in play in order to persuade communist regimes to loosen their grip or persuade democratic movements to flourish. The citizens of those European countries who pushed for democratic reforms are of course primarily responsible for the fruits of their democratic desires but it would be absurd to say that the US didn’t play a MAJOR role in uniting Germany and in pushing for democratic reform in Europe.
cranialoutlet commented:
As far as I understand, in my short experience following presidents and their foreign policy, the first Bush administration was more progressive, active and hands on than any administration since then, including the current debacle.
Andrew commented:
Matt Lauer’s hair plugs must be drawn too tight.

Another completely bereft of thought leftist commentator — this is what passes for journalism today.

Who the hell is Matt Lauer and why should I care what he thinks.Luckily we still have a choice to what we watch and a remote to change the channels.
I’m beyond what liberals think and say and sick to death of hearing their opinions.Let them keep them to themselves.
Cargosquid commented:
Matt Lauer? Is he on Fox?
Communism didn’t fall on its own. It was PUSHED.

Go easy on Matilda. He’s not exactly a rocket scientist.

Give John Edwards credit because he was right about one thing – there are “Two Americas”.
In Matt Lauer’s Amerika, the fall of the Berlin Wall was a humiliating defeat
In my America, the fall of the Berlin Wall was a remarkable, resounding victory not only for America, but for all freedom-loving people of the World.
But what do I know? I didn’t attend an Ivy League school. Plus, I believe The Founders were brilliant men. Two strikes on me……..
Jo commented:
Is it OK to view Matt Lauer as an idiot or do we not want to offend all idiots all over the world?
squeaky commented:
“They didn’t much like Ronald Reagan either.”
and in his pre-recorded speech for the event,
zero-n-chief made no mention of him – choosing john kennedy and gorbachev [spelling?]instead.

Was Matt around when the wall fell?
Rob commented:
We do deserve the credit for ending the Cold War. All of the credit, we provided military and monetary support to Western Europe.
While the Europeans were putting their defense money into social programs, the United States was providing all of the protection money for what was Western Europe.
It was our resolve to end the Cold War, we did it and bankrupted the Soviets in the process.
Which of course resulted in the Soviets releasing their grip on Eastern Europe.
The collapse of the Berlin Wall, was the most visual effect of the Soviet demise.
It’s not just about East Germany, it was all of Eastern Europe and the Baltics.
Zipity commented:
If only Matt had been there, and the wall had fallen ON him….two birds, one stone….that type of thing….

why do these people have jobs?
Because they are all professional “salad tossers”. Dont know what a salad tosser is please look it up in the urban dictionary a very worthwhile and fitting term describing the left and its media. Big Hollywood found it and thinks we should use it when combating the teabagger label and I wholeheartedly agree.
jksisco commented:
The day “the wall” came down is one of the most poignant times in the history of the world, how, as President of the United States do you not attend this celebration? I think the only case of egocentric thinking emanates from the WH. Any BHO voters have a response…
darwin commented:
Not surprising … the communist democrats control the media.
The communist democrats are the media.
Chris Vehr commented:
Matt Liar would probably prefer that the Berlin Wall still existed. He and his socialist friends in the Obama administration seem to be very content with the Federal government controlling everything…including health care, the banking industry, and the automobile industry.

Just looked up “salad tosser” in the urban dictionary.
It seems most a propos when referring to those on the left.
Thanks.

“Little talent other than sitting there with his legs crossed and looking interested Lauer” really should stick to what he does best.. hard hitting pieces on spring fashion and kitchen gadgets. Tear down those hair plugs, Matt, they’re clearly pulled too tight .. no one’s buying your liberal swill.
One Way commented:
We see all too often what a small man occupies the Oval Office.
Matt might have hoped his question would give some cover to our POTUS for not attending this wonderful anniversary. And “squeaky” tells us BO didn’t mention Reagan in the message he sent.
Say what you will about Bush, but he has class and grace. Probably what I most admire in the man. A leader who never disappointed at times like these.
I look forward to the day we’ll have that kind of leadership again.
Sojourner commented:
Ditto, OneWay.. that day cannot come soon enough.

This is the perfect answer to Matt — Hell no, we are proud of America. Why aren’t you?
As to the MSM apologizing/belittling America, telling us ‘teabaggers’ are racists, and that Hasan is just misunderstood, I give you this:

‘Code Pink isn’t spitting on Muslims, they’re spitting on our soldiers and anyone that dares to defend them. The ObamaMedia isn’t going on long tirades about the disgust they feel towards Muslims, no their tirades are directed towrd the TEA partiers. Our own Government isn’t singaling out Muslims or Mosques, they are calling out FOX News, RUSH, Palin, Tea Partiers, and anyone who dares state a loyalty to freedom.’
BurmaShave commented:
“Big Lib Matt Lauer Questions If It’s ‘Egocentric’ to View Fall of Berlin Wall as ‘American Victory’”
Well,Matt, your question betrays a significant lack of matters geopolitical, but that is a natural and understandable consequence of immaturity.
Beergut commented:
idiots and frauds. that’s all you people are. Keep mumbling to each other. 2010 will turn out just like ny 23.
crystal commented:
This is off topic, but here is a quote from General Casey from Meet the Press.
GREGORY: What about your concerns about backlash against our Muslim soldiers who are in the Army, as a result of this incident?
GEN. CASEY: Yeah. I think those concerns are real and I, and I will tell you, David, that they’re, they’re fueled partially, at least, by the speculation about–based on anecdotal evidence that people are presenting. I think we have to be very careful with that. Our diversity not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse.“..

DavidD commented:
Obama didn’t deign to go to commemorate the fall; ergo, it MUST be egocentric to celebrate it. If BHO had gone, Matt (I have a man-crush on the President) Lauer would NOT have said that.
cranialoutlet commented:
Beergut – do you really think NY-23 is more important than two republican governors with veto power over their state assemblies? NY 23 gives the democrats 1 more vote out of a total of 435. 1 more vote out of a total of 435 is not exactly what one would call a seachange. You’ll have to do better than “idiots,” “frauds” and repeating blog quotes from other liberal websites. Your post was useless.

Miss Lauer crosses her legs just like the other girls on the Today Show. I assume she squats to pee as well. That’s all you need to know about her. Pussified metrosexual.

There is no longer any pride of country among these media leftists, and I for one would like to see them all go down in flames, when their ratings tank.
