They’re Going to Ram It Through…
Dems are ready to nationalize the health care industry.

(JSOnline)
Democrats are putting the final touches on their plan to takeover the nation’s health care industry.
The Wall Street Journal reported:
Top Senate Democrats are close to finalizing their health bill and could unveil a measure as soon as early this week that would include stiffer penalties on employers who fail to provide health coverage.
Senate leaders plan to submit the bill to the Congressional Budget Office for a cost estimate as soon as Monday, and make the legislation public as soon as Tuesday, according to a person familiar with the negotiations.
Details of the legislation could change, but its broad outlines are becoming clear. Employers with more than 50 workers wouldn’t be required to provide health insurance, but they would face fines of up to $750 per employee if even part of their work force received a government subsidy to buy health insurance, this person said. A bill passed by the Senate Finance Committee had a lower fine of up to $400 per employee.
The bill to be brought to the Senate floor would create a new public health-insurance plan, but would give states the choice of opting out of participating in it, a proposal that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada backed last week.
The bill is expected to expand health coverage to tens of millions of Americans by giving low- and middle-income Americans subsidies to offset the cost of insurance, and expanding the Medicaid federal-state insurance program to cover a broader swath of the poor. Most people would be required to buy insurance or pay a fine, though exceptions would be made for those deemed unable to afford it.
Also expected are new rules on insurers to prevent them from denying coverage to people with pre-existing health conditions and from dropping customers’ insurance once they become ill.
Would someone please explain how insurance companies can stay in business if they are forced to cover those high risk individuals?
How long before the close their doors?
And just think… You’ll be giving up your private plans and it will only cost a trillion dollars!
What a bargain.
They’ve been planning this for a long time.
Public option here we come–
This ties in with what Charles Krauthammer wrote about today– Decline is a choice, but is it America’s choice?
More… Legal Insurrection says Reid has nothing yet.

Of course they’re going to “ram it through”…even if it takes the nuclear option in the Senate (and it probably will!). This has been the plan all along. The “bipartisan” part is simply window dressing. They never planned on doing anything differently and this is absolutely no surprise in my little corner of the world.
There are a “few more” items to get RAMMED through, too….Stand by. You ain’t seen nothin yet.

Time is running out for them. They lost their momentum in July. The longer they wait the harder it is to pass anything. Negatives continue to drive public opinion down. I’m curious what will happen with the new health care plan with so many people against it. How will the Dems win back their disaffected? Most people are happy with their health care now. Will they be in 2012?
Matt Helm commented:
Well, it shouldn’t be any surprise Reid and co. are going to try to push this through. What isn’t sure yet is whether he has the 60 vote or if he’s going to go with reconciliation. Regardless, it means that we have to make sure that in 2010 and 2012 we vote them all out and elect those who will repeal it.
The Alien and Sedition Acts were repealed, Prohibition was repealed, this piece of trash can be repealed as well.
MagicalPat commented:
Based on the numbers above, every 50 employees would cost a small business between $20,000 and $40,000 in yearly fines. That is easily paid for by laying of 2 or 3 workers.
So, we can look forward to between 4 and 6% of the small business work force to be let go.
Them Democrats are super geniuses.

They are super geniuses all right.
Like Pelosi laughing off a question about constitutionality. They have an agenda, they are bleeding clout and they have got to ram it all through before Nov. 2010. They are desperate and the timing has already been set, and they are behind.
Get ready, the ramming is about to begin.
Chris Vehr commented:
They don’t care about America. They only care about their own agenda. These democrats are pure evil and have every intention of ruining this country.
The people who voted for Obama ought to be ashamed. They are dreamers who have no idea of reality. They don’t want to work for anything because they selfishly want everything handed to them by the government. We will all pay dearly for their stupidity.

How hard is it to understand? Let’s make the car insurance analogy. This health care proposal is like telling people they don’t have to buy car insurance until AFTER they have a wreck, and even though they buy it after the wreck, the insurance will still cover the wreck. Who would carry insurance if you can buy it after-the-fact?? Insurance is a gamble, you pay a little over a long time, in the off chance that you will need to withdraw out of the collective pot someday. If no one is paying into the pot, but everyone is withdrawing because the law says insurers must allow them to, how will that possibly work? It won’t. Goodbye insurance industry. Hello higher unemployment numbers. How can a president claim to be trying to fix unemployment if he is set on destroying entire industries (insurance, coal, etc)? There will be higher unemployment, which means those people won’t be buying insurance until they are diagnosed with something that absolutely requires it, but the insurance industry will be gone so they’ll have to buy it from the government… and how will the government pay for the treatment? It’s a death spiral of destruction.
Pinkie French commented:
no matter what the congress can not change state laws. State allow insurance companies to come in or not. CONGRESS can not change state laws. Thus this whole thing is a joke and they know it.
John Cooper commented:
It’s official: The Senate snuck waiting lists and rationing into S.1796, the latest version of the health care bill. It’s on page 40 and basically says when the money runs out each year for those in the ‘high risk pool’, they go on a waiting list or have their benefits cut.
You get tossed into a ‘high risk pool’ if you have a ‘pre-existing condition’, but there’s no explanation in the legislation (that I can find) describing exactly conditions those might be.
Pinkie French commented:
oh that pesky 10th amendment.

Of course they’ll ram it through. They have to get going on cap-and-tax and on bankrupting the coal industry. They only have twelve months until the election, you see.

You did see that the bill includes a state opt-out? That means that no state is forced to have the public option if they don’t want it.

Houghton – How many will opt out? And of those that do: how many will see ACORN running the next elections?

So Harry Reid has a healthcare bill for the Senate, which has an “opt-out” “public plan.”
Given that US citizens travel like water across the various state borders, the whole idea of an “opt-out” is completely bogus, since anyone from an “opt-in” state may try to use healthcare in an “opt-out” state, making Harry Reid’s Senate bill a functional reenactment of the “Missouri Compromise“.

If Americans want this nightmare to end, and I mean all that the Democrats are doing in Congress and the Senate, then I would suggest something that would halt the day-to-day wheels of progress, and most people will be able to figure out what that could be, until Obama proves his eligibility. Before you know it, Obama will sign the Treaty of Copenhagen and have signed over your sovereignty, and taxpayers will be paying out monies to third world countries with more pollution than you can shake a stick at. This nightmare isn’t going to end with the 2010 election, even if you get one. I’m sure Obama will manage some EXECUTIVE ORDER preventing any elections or some hair-brained scheme.

Given that the overwhelming majority of Americans do not want this plan, whom do our Congresspersons believe they are representing through its passage?
It seems to me that upon the moment of passage, the bill will signify the State of Taxation without Representation.
We know how that story ended last time…
