Pelosicare will force individuals to buy the government insurance, will tax the wealthy, will result in rationed care and will drive a stake in the heart of the private health insurance industry.
It’s a socialist’s dream.
Reuters reported:
Democrats in the House of Representatives finished work on Wednesday on a healthcare bill that includes a government-run insurance plan, requires individuals to buy health coverage and imposes a surtax on the wealthy to help pay for it.
The measure, the product of weeks of closed-door talks to merge three pending health bills, will be unveiled by party leaders on Thursday and submitted to the full House for debate as early as next week.
The bill includes a government-run “public” insurance option that uses reimbursement rates negotiated with healthcare providers, Democrats said, a setback for House liberals led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi who favored a more “robust” version to compete with private insurers.
Pelosi failed to gain the 218 votes needed to pass a version of the government-run plan using lower rates pegged to Medicare, the health plan for the elderly.
The healthcare measure being prepared for debate in the Senate also includes a public insurance option based on negotiated reimbursement rates but, unlike the House bill, it would allow states to decline to participate.
The House’s version of a sweeping healthcare overhaul, President Barack Obama’s top domestic priority, would require individuals to buy insurance and all but the smallest employers to offer health coverage to workers, Democrats said.
It would offer subsidies to help the uninsured buy insurance through newly created exchanges and would expand eligibility for the Medicaid program to those with incomes up to 150 percent of the poverty level.
The state-run media insists that the majority of Americans want government to takeover the health care industry with a public option plan.
Meanwhile… Plumline’s Greg Sargent has posted the results of a highly confidential House Democratic Party Whip Count which shows 47 Democrats at No on a public option.
UPDATE: The Patriot Room has a link to the full text of the bill.

This is the central issue. Ya’ll out there want freedom or serfdom? I’ll die a freeman before I live as a slave.

Pelosicare.
That name alone is just wrong.

The issue is protecting our nation from the weapons of tyranny. The Democratic majority wants to undo in a year that which took all of humanity to create… a truly free nation of men and women unchained by the institution of government to choose write their own destiny rather than having it legislated to them.

Just the fact that our would-be royalty in DC want to ram this through no matter what should be enough to convince people that Pelosi and her fellow trolls need to be removed from DC one way or another.
The people in DC completely ignore one-to-two million protesters right on their doorstep saying “stop trying to take over our healthcare and our lives.” If Hoffman wins NY-23 next week, will they ignore that as well, and proceed as if the country is pounding on the table demanding a government takeover of healthcare?

In other words, there’s been no change in their plans, regardless of the message the population sent via all the various Tea Parties.
It’s time for the Tea Party participants to put maximum efforts into breaking the Democrat majority in Congress, and targeting for removal statists of any stripe, Democrat and Republican.

From reading some of the forums in my area, which is one of the poorest counties in Missouri, it seems as though about half of the poor saps out here actually believe that obiecare is going to be “completely free health care from the government”. And, “all of my health insurance problems will be solved by the government.” The poor saps are in for a very rude awakening when the tax bill and payroll deductions start to hit them.
About the only people who believe that obiecare will be any good at all are the ones who want something for nothing; and believe this bill will provide it.

I hate everything about ObamaCare but, you gotta hand it to Democrats, they definitely are better than Republicans at planning, staging, executing and getting the most mileage out of a photo-op. Where is the Republican news conference? Non-exsistent of course.

Looking at Huffpo, lots of folks upset about the Pelosi bill as well.
This comment was classic, and telling…
“We don’t need a third party, we need a second party.”

It’s 1,990 pages.
That’s almost 1,000 MORE pages than the first House monstrosity in the spring.
I guess that means it must incorporate all the good ideas our wonderful Congressional representatives heard at their Town Meetings in August.
I guess.
Anyway, this new bill is brought to you by the least popular Congress in the history of the Republic.
I can scarcely contain my enthusiasm.
