Newt, Newt, Newt…
Newt Gingrich disappointed national conservatives again tonight by his continued support for pro-abortion, pro-Stimulus, Margaret Sanger Award Winner, Daily Kos backed, socialist Working Families Party candidate Dede Scozzafava in the New York 23rd district Congressional race.

Newt scolded national conservatives for voicing their support for the true conservative in the race Doug Hoffman. He said conservatives are “misinformed” despite the fact that Scozzafava received only a 15% conservative rating in 2008.
Newt also attacked conservative candidate Doug Hoffman during the segment saying he lived outside the district.

Newt told Greta that Scozzafava was supported by Republicans in her district. He slammed Hoffman for raising funds outside the district but did not mention that Scozzafava received $200,000-300,000 from the NRCC.
Newt needs to back off.

Conservative Hoffman surged ahead in the latest Club for Growth poll.

  1. Moot Gingrich: epic fail.

  2. GP, I saw this tonight and thought the same thing, he’s doubling down hard, the misinformed comment will cause a reaction, he sounded more like McCain than the Newt I used to know…

I would love to see him put in his place by Hoffman pulling this thing out…

  3. It’s disgusting that the GOP leadership is putting the welfare of the party and individual Republican politicians ahead of the welfare of the country.

My fantasy is that in 2010 every incumbent of both parties (except for about two senators and three congressmen) are thrown out. Wouldn’t that be amazing?

  4. ADVERTISEMENT

  5. Mr. Gingrich:

If by some chance you are made privy to the commentary posts here at Gateway Pundit, please understand one rather important point: Any candidate endorsed by ACORN and/or The Working Families Party is not going to be supported by those of us who love our nation.

  6. Newt your train pulled away from the station only you weren’t on it. Please Newt you’re embarrassing you’re self, give it up.

You have successfully alienated every conservative in this country. Why? Are you profiting in some way? You’re to intelligent to go on with this, but it’s now too late, you’re done in my eyes!

  7. Can i give you the opinion of a life long Democrat? I recognize one when I see them and Newt is a Democrat at this point. No question about it.

  8. Because Newt already endorsed the wrong person…to save face, he has no choice but to “double down”…EVEN if Doug doesnt pull this off…this whole event should be a wake up call to all RINOs and the insider, sleeping elite GOPers…

  9. My fantasy is that in 2010 every incumbent of both parties (except for about two senators and three congressmen) are thrown out. Wouldn’t that be amazing?

I fantasize about the very same thing. To say that would be amazing is an understatement.

  10. sigh… I used to like Newt

  11. Why I won’t support Newt Gingrich anymore, he sold out to a Left Leaning Republican! We don’t need anymore Center Right Republicans! I would vote for Hoffman right now over any left leaning Republican! The Left Leaning (So Called) Republicans such as John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and their ilk should be Voted Out A.S.A.P.! They are the problem!

    http://governmentmess.blogspot.com/

  12. I guess he is running scared with this backlash against his support for the liberal (RINO Repub). I wont trust his judgement ever again.

  13. newt will soon be moot. No more RINO’s

  14. Throughout Newts career, he has constantly amazed me with his brilliant comments and analysis only to punctuate them with some of the DUMBEST THINGS ever uttered in the history of politics.

Just when I start to believe in him again, he pulls a BONEHEAD move like this.

I just shake my head – WHERE IS OUR REAGAN?

  15. I bought Mark Levin’s book, not Newts. Time for a change Newt. You had a chance and you let the liberals run you out of congress.

  16. It’s time to give Obama kudos. He has really put the corruption of our government in to the spotlight. And he’s also made it painfully obvious that DC needs a good clean up on both sides of the aisle. What DC and the American people need is new blood. Personally, that’s why I am intrigued by Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann. The old blood has had more than enough time to change the dirty dealing and continue to lie to the American people. It’s gotten so bad that they don’t even try to hide the fact that they feel that we work for them and not the other away around.

We should be calling for new blood, term limits for Congress, stamping out waste in government, etc. We aren’t going to get any real ‘change’ by listening to the people in office now.

Newt has had plenty of time to make a real difference and he hasn’t. Step aside Newt, it’s high time.

  17. That’s it, the final straw. The republican party is losing people because of the Newts and Snows, not the conservatives. Mark me as another person to leave my long relationship with the GOP. I have been sitting on my voter registration card marked as “current party” to “new party Independent”. I am signing it and dropping it off tomorrow! Those whom think that independent equals moderate have it all wrong.

  18. I have no actual animosity against the Democrat Party Platform. It’s pro-abortion, scapegoats the military to cover their CIVILIAN international policy-making, anti- 2nd Amendment, and is high tax to support Big Government.
    Fine.
Whoever believes THAT signs up as (D)Democrat. Fair enough.
As a Conservative, the Republican Party is the closest Political Platform that represents my beliefs: pro-Life, pro-military, pro-2nd Amendment, low tax to keep Big Government from getting too big and tyrannical. Life isn’t perfect, one settles for close enough.
What I object to is the bullying to make the Democrat Party Platform the Platform of the Republican Party and by extension, the Conservatives.
There IS a political party for THAT. It’s called DEMOCRAT.
The Republican Party Platform is DIFFERENT. It is intentionally different. It began with anti-slavery, the complete opposite of the slavery-enabling Democrats.
If one doesn’t LIKE it then GO to the DEMOCRATS and be at home THERE.
But, obviously it’s more than that, isn’t it? The confrontation that is shaping up goes beyond any one or two political party. The goal is ONE WORLD VIEW, a monopoly of thought, all others smothered and stamped out.

  19. Well, I guess one thing we can say for certain: Newt isn’t serious about running for President in 2012.

  20. Sitting on the “CLIMATE CHANGE COUCH” with Pelosi should = GAME OVER!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qi6n_-wB154

  21. Another glaring example of how there is absolutely no difference in establishment Republicans and leftists. Establishment is establishment whether you are a D or an R. The fact that the NRCC is funding Dede Marxafava and Newt, et al are behind this DIABLO (Democrat in all but label only) just shows that the GOP leadership has to go.

Florida is another example where the NSRC’s pre-emptive endorsement of that spray tanned RINO Crist will bite them in the ass when Marco is the GOP nominee and ultimately Senator in 2010.

  22. In ’94 Newt Gingrich had vision.

Now he has become a major champion of RINO’s, and completely without vision. Sad.

  23. Remember RNC leadership.
It’s “down the road’ not ‘across the street”.

  24. Aren’t Rinos endangered? Oh that’s Rhinos, my bad. Still the same though, both have a narrow field of vision and just leave crap everywhere they walk.

  25. Newt probably got spooked after looking out at American and seeing country that elected a Marxist from Chicago as President and a Marxists from San Fransisco as Speaker and has become completed broken by it. He appears to have given up the fight and has decided it would be easier for him personally if he just went along with the liberal wave. Vaya con Dios Newt. I’ll always remember you as you once were.

  26. Dede and Owens are not going to win. Democrats, Independent and Republicans who are sick and tired of this out-of-control spending will propel Hoffmann to win. This is not partisan politics. Time to vote out all incumbent.

  27. ++

Newt thinks he has all the answers..

    Earth to Newt..

    Obama CHANGED US..

we’re not playing the same old slip
    slidin’ Republican game anymore..

    GO HOFFMAN!! (thumbsup)

  28. The bigger problem is all the people who give Gingrich, global warming advocate and bookseller, a microphone. He could not advance his diseased views without their help. What Tea Parties are selling out by allowing him to claim their achievements as his, to steal their luster? When I heard he spoke at the NY City Tea Party earlier this year I became ill. Please stop giving public forums to this vile phony. He is the type who will never retire gracefully, is determined to keep anyone else on the right out of the presidency if he cannot have it. He’s completely obsessed and the biggest obstacle to getting our country back. In fact, he is a main reason our country has been lost. Please stop calling him a GOP leader. Sean Hannity, stop having him on radio or tv.

  29. No one is mentioning how he brought up Reagan, which totally disgusted me. He whines about Hoffman bringing money in from outstaters, and the RNC, RNCC and HIS endorsement were instate????? Go away Newt, you are talking out of both sides of your mouth again!

  30. All the Elites have to go! We have to clean house, McCain has got to go, His little puppet Graham. Charly Crist must be defeated.

When you look back it all starts to make sense, starting with Bob Dole, the hatred for Reagan, the attempted destruction of of Palin. Why is Graham and McCain hinting they are for the Global junk bill. Newt is for it also. Power and ego is all they want.

I will help to campaign against McCain here in Arizona, and try to encourage J.D. Hayworth to run against him in the primary. This all has got to end, we need citizen politicians that serve 2 terms and then return home.

  31. 1. What local control? 4 Republican meetings? Funny, we never heard about them. We hear NOTHING from the local GOP. (To be fair, that is a 2-way Street.)

    2. Dede was picked in those meetings because of her “fundraising potential” with the downstate GOP, and perception of her being a “moderate”.

    3. “He doesn’t live in the district.” – No rules against that. Lake Placid is a 10 minute drive from the district, and if you look at the map, probably should be in the district, were it not for Congress’ silly gerrymandering over the years.

    4. Dede was endorsed by the NRA because their policy awards endorsement to those who have legislative experience first.

    5. Dede signed the No Tax Increase Pledge AFTER she ridiculed Hoffman for doing it first.

    6. “(Dede)… will vote for John Boehner to be speaker instead of Nancy Pelosi” – How stupid do you think we are, Newt. Of course Hoffman would vote for Boehner over Pelosi. How can you be so sure that Dede won’t pull an Arlen Specter? I wouldn’t put it past her.

    7. “(Dede)…adequately conservative in an Upstate NY district.” – When was the last time you were here, Newt? Oh yeah… NEVER! (If you were, it was a stealth mission) What would you know about what is “adequately conservative” here? Nothing.

    8. “(Dede)… about where McHugh(R) was” – he exposed his RINO side as soon as Bush was out the door.

    9. Current polling shows Hoffman in the lead with Dede falling further behind in 3rd. She’s the spoiler now.

    10. “Money being raised is going to Dede, not Hoffman..” – check your facts. She was third in fundraising. Owens was first because Obama had a $30k per plate fundraiser in NYC 2 on the 20th. Hoffman raised $116k on the day he got the Palin endorsement.

    11. “Aren’t the people of NY allowed to pick their representatives?” – We are, and we have, and we don’t want an ACORN lovin’ RINO. Just because our pick doesn’t jive with your thinking doesn’t make it wrong.

Newt, I’ve had great respect for you over the years, but you’ve lost me here, and I am just one of many voices in NY-23 who feel the same way. You have totally misread us and spun this to support your position. Save face. Admit it. Be honest.

Hoffman will win on Nov. 3rd, and if by some chance he doesn’t, it will be the fault of the GOP for backing the wrong RINO.

    Principles over Party.

  32. What Newt fails to realize is that the embrace of abortion and homosexuality by a society and the State will lead to the persecution of Christians in particular and Conservatives in general. If Newt was thinking of running for President, he just destroyed that possibility.

    spot on!!

    flashback to February 22, 2008

    Obama’s sovereignty giveaway plan

[Why are Republicans in Congress trying to help Barack Obama?

Republicans allowed a bill that carries his name, among nine others, to pass the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by voice vote last week – without any hearings. That means there was no roll-call vote so no member can be held accountable. The same bill passed the House by voice vote last year.

    [..]

Obama’s costly, dangerous and altogether bad bill (S. 2433), which could come up in the Senate any day, is called the Global Poverty Act. It would commit U.S. taxpayers to spend 0.7 percent of our Gross Domestic Product on foreign handouts, which is at least $30 billion over and above the exorbitant and wasted sums we already give away overseas.

The bipartisan bill would require the president “to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.”]

    flashforward to October 14, 2009

Obama Poised to Cede US Sovereignty in
    Copenhagen, Claims British Lord Monckton

[Question: The current administration and the Democratic majority in Congress has shown little regard for the will of the people. They’re trying to pass a serious government agenda, and serious taxation and burdens on future generations. And there seems to be little to stop them. How do you propose we stop Obama from doing this, because I see no way to stop him from signing anything in Copenhagen. I believe that’s his agenda and he’ll do it.]

and this is how they are going to do it..

  37. We allow these idiots to raise their salaries, ear marks should be illegal, instead we allow them on almost every bill that they enact. How is it that we used to have a law that said all amendments must be germane to the bill. Folks we have say back and allowed these elected crooks to turn our Constitution upside down, and to make laws that they are exempt from. We allow Charly Rangle to be Chairman of the committee that writes tax law, how sick is that.

Wether it’s to late now I don’t know, but the American people are waking up, actually it’s never too late if we stand up and fight.

  38. The best comment I’ve heard to describe the infection of Washingtonitis which Newt obviously is now incurable with.

“They fall in love with the smell of marble.”

Time to politically make the RINOs offers they can’t refuse.

  40. Newt, remember what your old friend warned you about not becoming:

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan

  41. Hey newt, get mewt. Will ya, huh?

I swear. If there is a better example than you out there that I.Q. doesn’t equal smarts, it’s only on the far, far left.

  42. It’s almost as if his IQ has slowly decreased with time, kind of like a fully inflated tire with a small hole in it. The ‘puncturing’ of the tire occurring in 1994, the slow ‘brain drain’ continuing through the years and it seems for years to come. I guess one can compare this to how a family ‘looses’ someone when they succumb to Alzheimer’s or Dementia.

“If you’re young and a republican you have no heart.
If you’re old and a democrat you have no brain”

Actually it’s based off of Churchill’s sayings:

“To be conservative at 20 is heartless, and to be liberal at 60 is plain idiocy.”

“A conservative at 20 has no heart and a liberal at 40 has no brain”

  43. Newt is backing to thinking with a wrong part of his anatomy again. American Solutions called me for a contribution a few days ago and I bluntly told the fundraiser to tell Gingrich to go back and sit on the coach the NanBela Pelousy.

  44. Back to not backing!

  45. I used to have a lot of respect for Newt, but I’m finding it difficult nowadays.

He actually expects me to send money to support someone endorsed by ACORN!! What a fool!

I think Newt has visions of “reaching across the aisle”, ala McCain. We see how far that got him.
There’s nothing at all that I see any need for across the aisle.

Newt had better wake up to the fact that people are fed up with RINOs and go along to get along Republicans. We want Conservatives who actually represent US and the principles we adhere to.

  46. Well, the upcoming elections will be a test to see if the “conventional wisdom” is correct.

  47. We need more supporters of ACORN in Congress.

“Found Ballots” will prevent this -www.dumpchrisdodd.com

  48. newt’s right. anyone who thinks this ‘destroy all (so-called) ‘rinos’ is a winning strategy for 2012 is sadly mistaken. if we go for this far-right, religiously-influenced, torches and pitchforks litmus test for what is a “true conservative” we lose, and deservedly so. if we stand for smaller government, lower taxes, individual liberty, and free enterprise, we win.

  49. Neut just got off a tour of schools with Al notso Sharpton give me a break. I jumped off his bandwagon when he did that Global warming hoax with Palooki Polosi

  50. el fudge packo, stop with the moby crap. You were here a month ago spouting liberal drivel, and making fun of conservatives.

  51. Whenever I see him, I’m reminded of Monty Pythons. “She turned me into a newt!”

And because of that I can’t take anything he says serious.

  52. I have alway thought that Gingrich is conservative. Now, he has became another Rino’s. I am disappointed in him. He is thinking about running for President in 2012. Gingrich won’t get the nominee in 2012. He is done!

  53. We’re not crazy about Newt’s personal piccadillos, but they might be overlooked if it weren’t for all the creepy, pandering alliances he’s made with everyone from Hillary to Nancy to Sharpton… trying to cast himself as the bold uniter, I suppose. He’s actually casting himself as the bombed-out has-been darting around in search of a camera, an audience, and a mandate. Newt, go home to your new wife and get yourself well.

  54. People have been warning the GOP establishment for a long time that they are done. Over. This is the moment in history when Newt Gingrich has lost his major influence with conservatives. Newt will still be looked up to for good ideas, but no longer a leader of the conservative moment. Conservatives have been saying to the GOP for quite some time now that: “If they don’t join us, they can step aside…if they don’t step aside, we will PUSH them aside. Newt has been officially pushed aside as a major leader of conservatives now. Palin and Pawlenty had the courage to stand behind Hoffman. Romney is still respected by conservatives, even though he has not endorsed Hoffman, because Romney has not tried to portray himself , dishonestly, as a total conservative. Romney has at least been honest to who he is: a conservative that is moderate on some issues. Huckabee has also disappointed with his waffling on not endorsing Hoffman, while he does portray himself as a strong christian conservative. Conservatives are standing up saying were putting up with double standards like Newt, McCain, Graham, and Huckabee anymore. Conservatives have not shot themsevles in the foot, Newt has. Even if Hoffman loses, he will win the election next year. Conservatives would rather democrats win over RINO’s so that the country can get even more sick of their failed policies. This is history. The old GOP is over. Done.

  55. http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/a-conservative-earthquake-in-new-york-and-beyond/2/

A conspicuous exception — Newt Gingrich, who is backing Scozzafava. From Politico, regarding Gingrich’s decision:

In defending his endorsement of Scozzafava to the National Review, Gingrich warned conservatives that “if you seek to be a perfect minority, you’ll remain a minority.”

Gingrich misses the mark here. Conservatives are seeking to build a majority based on clearly defined principles communicated to voters. They’re also doing a better job of reading the trends — in particular, movement among independents is going their way. The big-tent strategy that Gingrich is alluding to, and that failed to work for George W. Bush, is proving problematic for President Obama as well.

  56. Correction: In my previous post I meant to say:

Conservatives are standing up saying were NOT putting up with double standards like Newt, McCain, Graham, and Huckabee anymore.

  57. What was the “Contract with America” all about?! Was that just a means to an end for Newt? Has the new wife messed with his brain? How can you watch what happened to Republicans in Bush’s second term and with the disaster that was McCain and STILL put party before principle?? Forget running, Newt. You haven’t got a snowball’s chance. Of course, maybe then you would finally have an Ah HA moment…but I doubt it. Your kind of mentality is a pathology.

  58. I just voted with my wallet and donated $20.00 to Doug Hoffman’s campaign. I’m conservative libertarian from St. Louis MO and have NEVER donated to a politician in my life.

But, I am happy to support a Conservative candidate where they are needed most, IN LIBERAL STATES!!! It also feels good to rebel against the DC establishment RINOS like Newt, Lindsay Graham and all the others. WE ARE **FED** UP!!!

As Glenn Beck said: “Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out!!”

Hey RNC, can you hear me now??!!

  59. The disclaimer in this is that I rarely watch Hannity but last night was thinking about it until there was a promo that said Newt would be on.
    My TV set went off.
I am sick and tired of being lied to and being told that my best interest is what these career politicians have at heart.
I see Obama and I see Newt and all I can think is B*** F*****g Sh**.
I’ve had it, will not vote for it and will start working against the socialist state of America and the one world government or whatever their agenda truly is. Because despite what Newt or any other elite says, it sure isn’t the American people they are thinking of.

  60. I posted a long comment and it disappeared.

  61. Watched less than a minute of Newt on Greta last night and found him very infuriating with that slimy comment w/o explanation that Hoffman was not a resident of NY-23!
But when Geta did not challenge the Newter’d and provide the context I was amazed at her unprofessionalism!

  62. Praying that the election in NY-23 is a referendum on the Republican Party, that they FINALLY see that We The People do not buy the lie anymore.

  63. Newt probably also believes the earth has only 50 days to survive, due to global warming, or is it called climate change now. Newt, I’m now becoming an Independant Conservative, I am giving up my Republican card, due to people like you, Mclame, and Goober Graham,”I no longer want to be the party of angry white men.” Vote Conservative everyone, that is a vote for George Washington, John Adams and the Constitution, that silly document.

  64. Newt is making himself into a historical footnote, known as the author of the “Contract with America” a one-time revolutionary document now abandoned by the Party that propounded it and prospered from it. Sitting with (and not against) Nancy. Cozying up to race-baiter/racist Al “Hair” Sharpton? Supporting an ACORN-endorsed RINO in NY-23? What the Hell can he be thinking? He ought to spend more time talking about supporting true conservative principles and less time rhapsodizing about his new wife and his book sales. He sounds more like a tv huckster than a serious political figure.

  65. Newt made some strange, lame comment about Scozzafava not being a “perfect” candidate. If candidate “A” only represents my views/values on 20% of the issues, and candidate “B” represents my values on 80% of the issues, why in the HELL would I vote for candidate “A”? This is a representative republic, and the people of NY23 are not idiots nor “disloyal” for voting for the candidate that would best represent their interests and values.

  66. I fear President Obama more than Newt Gingrich. I believe Obama will have a more lasting affect on my life.

I fear President Obama more than Dede Scozzafava.

You cowards who spend all your time bitching about Newt and how he won’t support your guy, are pathetic.

  67. Uhh, correct me if I’m wrong but DailyKos has backed the Democrat in this race, not the Republican.

I mean, I’m OK with you lying and all….but can’t you pick a topic that isn’t so easily googleable?

  68. Kindness,

I’m not sure what you are claiming Jim lied about.
