Hoffman Pulls Ahead in NY23– Leads Scozzafava By 20 Points

Conservative Doug Hoffman now leads his democratic opponent by 5 points.
He leads the GOP candidate by 20 points.

For the second time in two days, a poll released by a conservative group finds Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman leading the Nov. 3 special election race for New York’s 23rd District. Neighborhood Research polled the district for Minuteman PAC, the political arm of the Minuteman Movement, which has endorsed Hoffman and is airing ads on his behalf.

Hoffman leads Democrat Bill Owens by 5 points and GOP nominee Dede Scozzafava by 20 points.

The poll was taken Oct. 25-26 of 366 likely voters. The three candidates are vying to replace former congressman John McHugh (R-N.Y.), who was appointed by President Obama to be Secretary of the Army.

More… Conservative Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) endorsed Doug Hoffman today.

UPDATE: Missouri Rep. Todd Akin endorsed Hoffman today.

That is good news…

However, one best hope the “Minutemen” data is accurate. They do not need to lose further credibility in the future.

Also, we must not allow the projection of a few misguided Rhinos to debase all the fine Conservatives in the GOP.

We need a Party, and the Republican Party has been a great tool for fine Conservative Interests.

There are a vast number of forces dedicated to debase the GOP, like Democrats pretending to be something other than they truly are, Libertarians who seek a big third party movement which will never take place, etc.

Reagan had it right, and grew the Republican Party to encourage sound policy and empower freedom.

This 2010, we need to have a sincere check on the DNC disaster we see.

I strongly support finding more sound candidates like Mr. Hoffman, but there are many in the GOP who deserve support as well.

People are just fed up of this spending and government take over. HopeandChange loss steam. Repubs, independents and democrats will vote Hoffmann. Even Acorn cannot bring back the dead.

It’s dangerous to interpret polling results without knowing more about the characteristics of the sample of the people polled and the margin of error. This sample size is ~20% larger than the CFG poll yesterday. Assuming, the characteristics between the two samples are consistent, the margin of error for the RCP poll should be a bit lower than the +-5.66% margin of error on the CFG poll.

While Hoffman clearly has the momentum against Scozzafava, statistically, it appears to still be a dead heat against Owens.

Let us hope the race in NY 23 speed a long overdue realignment of political parties in the US. Italy seamlessly and in one election cycle after the fall of the Iron Curtain witnessed the electoral death of the countries 20th century’s three dominant political parties. The same forces are also playing out in the Uk and France.
The relalignment of political parties in the US is a 100 years overdue. The death of the Republican Party began when left-wing progressives usurped the Republican Party leadership when Theodore Roosevelt and his progressive henchmen became president in 1901.
Conservative voters for the last 80 years have been gagging and holding their noses as they voted for RINOS foisted on them by the northeastern elites and will rush to support true principled conservatives as they did with Reagan.
The Republican Party leadership and elites have again slashed the wrist of the party in NY 23. Lets hope the DC,corridor leadership’s hubris driven suicide succeeds. The Republican Party deserves the same fate of the Federalists and Whigs experienced in 19th century America.

I wouldn’t get too comfortable until Hoffman is ahead of Scuzzi-what’s-her-name and Owens by more than the undecided vote.

Every election cycle, we get all jazzed up by the latest Repube to challenge Jack (Make My Skin Crawl) Murtha and talk about his/her “momentum”. It’s the momemtum at the poll closing that counts.

With numbers like Scozzofava’s it appears that she is the third party candidate, not Hoffman. I mean things are really bad when your numbers are below the number of undecideds. It’s time for Dead Dede to withdraw from the race and for the republicans to get behind the only republican in the race, Hoffman. Man up Dede and do the right thing.
