Surprise!… Leftist Hero & Shoe-Chucker Loves Muqtada Al-Sadr

Surprise!… The shoe-chucker loves Al-Sadr.
And, the Sadrists protested for his release yesterday in Sadr City…

Figure this one out.
Muntadhar al-Zeidi reportedly hates Iran but speaks glowingly of Muqtada Al-Sadr, the anti-American Iranian Regime lackey who disappeared to Iran months ago.
Oh, and he also loves Marxist hero Che Guevara.
Bridget Johnson at the Rocky Mountain News reported:

Now we get more of a picture of 28-year-old Muntadhar al-Zeidi, today a hero among many other Arabs for chucking his sneakers. A visiting AP writer noted that al-Zeidi’s apartment was decked out with a poster of murderer Che Guevara, and chatted with his brother, Dhirgham:

“‘He hates the American physical occupation as much as he hates the Iranian moral occupation,’ Dhirgham said, alluding to the influence of pro-Iranian Shiite clerics in political and social life. ‘As for Iran, he considers the regime to be the other side of the American coin.’

…Al-Zeidi may have also been motivated by what a colleague described as a boastful, showoff personality.

‘He tried to raise topics to show that nobody is as smart as he is,’ said Zanko Ahmed, a Kurdish journalist who attended a journalism training course with al-Zeidi in Lebanon.

Ahmed recalled that al-Zeidi spoke glowingly of anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, whose followers organized protests Monday to demand his release.

‘Regrettably, he didn’t learn anything from the course in Lebanon, where we were taught ethics of journalism and how to be detached and neutral,’ Ahmed said.”

Wow! Talk about a Leftist hero!
Al-Zeidi loves Che, loves US enemy Al-Sadr, and actually assaulted Bush!
This almost certainly assures Muntadhar a book project, a campus speaking tour and an Oliver Stone movie deal sometime in the near future.

More… The brother of Al-Zeidi told reporters today that Muntadhar was beaten in custody suffering a broken hand and broken ribs.
Of course, this could have happened when he was dragged fighting, screaming and kicking from the press conference, too.
Breitbart confirmed this:

Durgham Zaidi was unable to say whether Muntazer had sustained the injuries while being overpowered during Sunday’s protest against Bush’s visit to Baghdad or while in custody later.

UPDATE: Paul at Power Line notes that the media is playing “name that sect” with Muntazer.
It’s the foreign version to the domestic “name that party” game that is a favorite of the liberal media.
