OBAMA CAMP LEAKED HIS WESTERN WALL NOTE TO THE PRESS!!

Obama fed his prayer to the press.

“Lord – Protect my family and me. Forgive me my sins, and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will.”

Why is this not surprising?
The Obama Camp leaked his Western Wall note to the press!
Via TNR and Instapundit:

Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv was lambasted for printing the note that Obama placed in the Western Wall, allegedly stolen by a Yeshiva student. “Notes which are placed in the Western Wall are between the person and his Maker; Heaven forbid that one should read them or use them in any way,” said the Chief Rabbi of the Western Wall. “This sacrilegious action deserves sharp condemnation and represents a desecration of the holy site.”

But according to a statement from Ma’ariv yesterday, the Obama campaign actually leaked the note to reporters before Obama even placed it in the wall. Yediot Aharonot, Israel’s most popular daily, apparently also received a copy of the note in advance but decided not to print it.

Jerusalem Post reporter Carolyn Glick nailed it 3 days ago:

This was supposed to be a private benediction, and it was extraordinarily improper for someone to take this prayer and sell it to the media. On the other hand, in the world of paparazzi, the exposure of the prayer was predictable, and Obama apparently constructed the prayer for public consumption.

Like everything else about his visit, this was a carefully crafted statement, designed not to ruffle very many feathers. And like this prayer, there was nothing extraordinary about Obama’s visit. As you would expect from a politician, he tried to be all things to all people. And he probably succeeded.

Obviously, not everyone was fooled by the faux scandal.

Big Lizards also pegged it as a setup before the news broke today.

The Anchoress adds– “Obama you’re no John Paul II.”
