On This Day in History– Reagan's Brandenburg Gate Speech

Grand Old Partisan reminds us of the historic speech that was given by President Ronald Reagan 21 years ago today:

“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”
(1 minute 43 seconds)

Grand Old Partisan also reminds us that on this day in 1929, Democrats objected to an African-American woman attending White House reception.

Michelle Malkin says it’s time for a similar speech by Bush on oil exploration and drilling: “Mr. Bush, Tear Up That Offshore Drilling Ban”

Move America Forward announced today that former First Lady Nancy Reagan has endorsed their “Candy Diplomacy” program :

Former First Lady, Nancy Reagan, has announced her endorsement of Move America Forward’s “Candy Diplomacy” program that will bring 100,000 bags of American goodwill to the children of Iraq & Afghanistan.

In a statement being released today, Nancy Reagan said that her husband:

“…would often break the ice in meetings by passing around his jar of Jelly Bellys. It had a way of putting a smile on everyone’s face and putting them in the mood to work cooperatively. I know the Iraqi and Afghani people will feel the warmth and goodness of the American people when they get to try these treats.”

Nancy Reagan believes that President Reagan would have loved this program.
