“If you acted like this in an airport, they’d throw you out.”

Hopefully, they won’t stab anyone today.

This is the crowd at the Travis County Democratic convention Saturday, March 29, 2008, in Austin, Texas. Texas Democrats convened to divide caucus delegates between presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. It’s the next stage of Texas’ delegate system that culminates at the state Democratic convention in June. (AP/Harry Cabluck)

The Texas Democratic Caucus Conventions were held today despite dirty tricks.
Officials at the Hays County convention pleaded with todays Democratic delegates-
“No spitting, hair-pulling or eye-gouging.”

The New Editor is following today’s Texas tussle.

The delegates are screaming at eachother at the larger convention sites:

At large conventions in Houston, Dallas and Austin, arguments erupted and confusion set in as complaints were lodged about the legitimacy of some delegates.

Credentials committees heard challenges lodged against the way certain delegates were selected at precinct caucuses in early March. Frustrated delegates shouted at credentials committee members in Senate District 23 in Dallas.

UPDATE: Chaos… The convention in the 23rd district didn’t get started until around 6 p.m., with participants in it having been there since 8:30 a.m.

This is from my sister-in-law who is a Democratic delegate in Dallas:

I am still at the convention. Hillary has lawyers here challenging the entire Texas process! Someone said a lawyer was in someone’s face and police were called.

Yee-Hah!

In Houston, liberal Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee got booed by Obama supporters at their convention. Hah.
