Bhutto was shot in the neck and the chest—
A suicide bomber then blew himself up.

At least 20 others were also killed in the blast.
Al-Qaeda took responsibility for the assassination.

BENAZIR BHUTTO IS DEAD!
The BBC reported:

Pakistani former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has been killed in a presumed suicide attack, a military spokesman has announced on TV.
Earlier reports said Ms Bhutto had only been injured and taken to hospital.

Ms Bhutto had just addressed a pre-election rally in the town of Rawalpindi when the bomb went off.

At least 15 other people are reported killed in the attack and several more were injured. Ms Bhutto had twice been the country’s prime minister.

She was campaigning ahead of elections due in January.

ABC News Australia has this on the attack:

Bhutto, 54, died in hospital in Rawalpindi. Ary-One Television said she had been shot in the head.

Police said a suicide bomber fired shots at Bhutto as she was leaving the rally venue in a park before blowing himself up.

“The man first fired at Bhutto’s vehicle. She ducked and then he blew himself up,” said police officer Mohammad Shahid.

Police said 16 people had been killed in the blast.

FOX News is reporting that Bhutto died during surgery after the attack.
