Chavez: "The Empire of the Dollar Is Collapsing"

(ISNA)
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke out against the coming demise of the US “Empire” today in Tehran.
AGI reported:

‘The empire of the dollar is collapsing,’ said the Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez in Tehran after a visit to the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Chavez’ declaration arrive after Venezuela and Iran at the OPEC meeting in Riad asked the members of the cartel to disengage the oil price from this weak dollar and link it to a series of currencies. This proposal was not accepted due to the opposition of Saudi Arabia. In Riad Chavez had said that the price of oil may skyrocket to 200 dollars per barrel if the U.S. attack Iran. After today’s meeting in Tehran with Ahmadinejad Chavez attacked the dollar again: ‘Soon we’ll stop talking about the dollar because the US currency is rapidly being devaluated, the empire of the dollar is collapsing and with it, obviously, also the United States will collapse.’
