Blogger Conference Call with RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman

There was a blogger conference call today with Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman

Ken Mehlman: Michael Barone believes this will come down to the wire. I believe the Republicans will retain contril of the House and Senate.

The difference is that distinctions are very stark between the two parties.
(See Michelle Malkin today)

Look at Representative Charlie Rangel who says that none of the tax cuts are worth keeping. For the average family that comes out to $2000 per year that the democrats will take from them.

The Republicans have a candidate cash advantage.
Other factors that favor Republicans:
1- Intensity- despite what you hear from the media, Republicans are enthusiastic. GOP voters are strongly engaged.
2- Donations- Republican National Committee had their best month ever in September. September has been our best financial month of the entire yearly cycle.
3- Grass roots voluteers- We have made 1 million voter contacts every week for the past five weeks, and for six weeks we have surpassed the number of contacts we made at comparable times in 2004, a presidential election year.
4- Signs of things going well- Arizona is going well. Foley seat looks good. In Pennsylvania we are pleased with what we are seeing.

Also…
There are more Congressional districts that are more Republican than Democrat and back Republicans by a rate of 52%.

Patrick Hynes asked about cash resource numbers of 527’s, etc.- Mehlman says that we would be expect to be outspent by these organizations.
It’s hard to measure them.

Get out the vote in Pennsylvania is going terrifically – There is terrific energy with the Murtha factor and Santorum and Swann are making gains.

In closing: Bloggers are a big part of the grassroots organization of the Republican Party. Through the blogs, conservative radio we are able to get the message out.
Find 5 others! Tell them to find five others to Now is the time for the new media to reach out!

Are you motivated to get out and vote?
