Howard Dean Comes Unglued, Again

HOWARD DEAN SAYS:

– “WE CREATED A TERRORIST DANGER FOR THE US WHERE ONE DID NOT EXIST BEFORE”
– “HE (BUSH) STANDS UP FOR WHAT HE BELIEVES EVEN THOUGH HE’S TERRIBLY MISGUIDED”
– “IRAQ WAS NOT A DANGER TO THE UNITED STATES,” AND…
– “THE FILIBUSTER COULD BE USED AGAINST JUDGE ROBERTS”

On Face the Nation, yesterday, Howard Dean, the Democratic National Committee chairman, says that he still doesn’t think the Iraqis are better off with dictator Saddam Hussein out of power and in prison. (via Drudge)

Appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation” yesterday, the fiery former Vermont governor said, “It looks like today, and this could change, as of today it looks like women will be worse off in Iraq than they were when Saddam Hussein was president of Iraq.”

Mr. Dean was the guy who said right after Saddam was found hiding in a “spider hole” that his capture by U.S. troops “has not made America safer,” a statement ridiculed and condemned by most of his Democratic rivals at the time.

In a brief statement yesterday, the Republican National Committee said, “Dean’s wild assertion that Iraqi women would be better off living under Saddam Hussein than democracy is not only counterproductive to meaningful debate, it demeans the hard work of American servicemen and women serving in Iraq.”

HERE is the pdf file from the program.

So what is Howard Dean saying exactly about violence against women? It is widely known that Saddam had rapists on the payroll in the days when the “Butcher of Baghdad” was running things on the ground there. What could be worse than this for Iraqi women? What could be worse than a government who pays thugs to rape and kill it’s citizens? And Dean makes these remarks this 24 hours before the Iraqis are going to meet another deadline on their road to independence!
